Free trial of WAF add-on features

WAF offers a free trial of all add-on features for users purchasing an instance for the first time, covering intelligent rate limiting, API intelligent management, advanced Bot protection, and Bot behavior map. You can fully experience the actual effects and practical value of these features during the trial period. This article provides detailed instructions and important notes on trial operations in different scenarios.

Important notes

Explanation of WAF add-on feature free trial policy:

Trial eligibility: Free trial is available only to users purchasing a WAF instance for the first time.

Trial period: The trial period lasts up to 15 days. After the trial expires, the system will suspend the use of related functions. The configured protection policy will be retained for 7 days, after which the system will automatically reclaim the add-on features and their corresponding policies.

Special note: Users who have enabled add-on features before the launch of WAF hybrid billing enjoy limited-time free benefits.

Activate trial for new instances

When purchasing a WAF instance, you can choose either the annual/monthly subscription or free trial billing mode. No matter which option you choose, the platform allows you to directly experience all the additional features included in the current package specification. Trial when purchasing an annual or monthly package instance

When you choose to purchase a WAF instance in the annual or monthly billing mode for the first time, the platform will provide you with a free trial of the corresponding additional features based on the package specification you select. After the trial expires, you can directly purchase the required features according to your actual needs. You can refer to Create WAF Instance for the related operations of purchasing an annual or monthly package instance.

Trial when activating a free trial instance

Before applying for a WAF free trial instance, please ensure your account still has available trial quotas. If you want to know your trial eligibility, you can submit your requirements through the "Pre-sales Consultation" portal on the right side of the Volcano Engine official website. Once your eligibility is confirmed, you can begin the application for a free trial instance. You can refer to Activate Free Trial WAF Instance for the related operations of activating a free trial instance.

Trial results

On the instance management page, you can view the trial status of each additional feature and directly purchase the desired additional features as needed.

On the policy configuration page, you can view the specific expiration time for each additional feature.

Limited-time free offer for purchased instances

If you enabled an instance and started a free trial before WAF additional features started to be charged officially, you can check the trial status by the following methods:

On the instance management page, the status of the additional feature is displayed as Trial in progress.

On the policy configuration page, the additional feature is marked as Limited-time free.
