Permissions migration

1. Migrate Apache Ranger

Apache Ranger is a framework that enables, monitors, and manages comprehensive data security across Hadoop platforms. The import and export features of Ranger UI and Ranger REST API support the migration of Ranger security policies from the source Hadoop cluster to Volcano Engine E-MapReduce (EMR).

2. Migrate Apache Sentry

Apache Sentry is a role-based, fine-grained permission management module that supports permission management for Apache Hive, Hive Metastore, Apache Solr, Impala, and HDFS. The built-in configuration tool of Sentry can be used to import the security policies of Sentry from the source cluster into Sentry on a self-built Hadoop cluster in Volcano Engine.

#export
sentry -command config-tool -E <filepath> -b <specific auth object>

#import
sentry -command config-tool -I <filepath> -o

To migrate security policies from Apache Sentry to Apache Ranger in the Volcano Engine EMR cluster, convert the exported policy format from Sentry to the security policy format of Ranger, and then import it using Ranger UI and Ranger REST API.
