Quick Start

DMS 1.0 Quick Start

DMS 1.0 only supports the fully managed mode, which does not require service deployment. You can start data migration by creating a migration task in the console. This article explains the prerequisites and migration process for using the fully managed mode in DMS 1.0, helping you get started with the DMS quickly.

Prerequisites

Before using the DMS, make sure you have registered your Volcano Engine account and completed enterprise verification. For detailed steps, see Account Registration and Identity Verification.

Use cases

The fully managed mode of DMS 1.0 supports migrating data based on the S3 protocol to object storage TOS. It is suitable for scenarios where cloud storage data compatible with the S3 protocol needs to be migrated to TOS, or for migrating data between TOS buckets in the same region.

Workflow

Steps	Description
Confirm source information	Before migrating data, you need to confirm the following information based on the source type. Source type is URL list: Confirm the URLs of the files to be migrated. Source type is Object Storage: Confirm the data source type, AKSK, source bucket name, source region, and endpoint.
(Optional) Create the destination bucket	After confirming the source information, you need to create an object storage TOS as the destination. For steps to create, see Create Bucket. tip If you need to migrate data to an existing bucket, you can skip this step.
Create migration task	After confirming the information for the source and destination, you can create a migration task. For specific steps, see Create Migration Task.
View migration results	Once the migration task is created successfully, data migration will begin. For details on how to view migration results, see View Migration Results.
