Resource packages are exclusive offers for Extreme FileNAS users. Regardless of what files you store, these packages can be used to cover storage capacity fees. They offer greater discounts than pay-as-you-go billing.
Currently, FileNAS only has one type of resource package: Extreme FileNAS Resource Package. This package is used to offset storage fees incurred when using Extreme FileNAS. The offset ratio is 1:1, meaning that 1 GiB of the package can offset 1 GiB of storage capacity.
tip
This topic explains the types of resource packages and their details. For pricing information, see Pricing details. Validity period and reset cycle
A resource package provides a fixed hourly capacity allowance that expires hourly during its validity period. The validity period and reset cycle are explained as follows.
Validity period
A resource package takes effect immediately upon purchase. The length of its validity depends on how long it was purchased for, and it will automatically expire after that period ends. The validity period follows a non-calendar month cycle:
- Effective time: The package becomes active at the start of the previous full hour from the purchase time.
- Expiry time: By default, the package expires at 23:59:59 on the same date in the target month. If the target month does not include that date, the expiration defaults to 23:59:59 on the last day of the month. For example, if you purchase an Extreme FileNAS resource package at 10:30:00 on January 31, 2024:
- For a 1-month subscription, the effective time is January 31, 2024, 10:00:00, and the expiry time is February 29, 2024, 23:59:59.
- For a 2-month subscription, the effective time is January 31, 2024, 10:00:00, and the expiry time is March 31, 2024, 23:59:59.
- For a 3-month subscription, the effective time is January 31, 2024, 10:00:00, and the expiry time is April 30, 2024, 23:59:59.
Reset cycle
The resource package's quota resets hourly. During the package's validity period, the capacity allowance is refreshed every hour. Unused quota from the current hour does not roll over to the next hour, and excess usage beyond the hourly quota is automatically billed at pay-as-you-go rates. For example, if you purchase a 100 GiB Extreme FileNAS resource package for one month at 10:00:00 on January 15, 2024, the reset cycle is as follows:
- The first cycle: January 15, 2024, 10:00:00 - 10:59:59. The package can offset fees for 100 GiB of Extreme FileNAS storage capacity
- The second cycle: January 15, 2024, 11:00:00 - 11:59:59. The package quota resets and can again offset fees for 100 GiB of Extreme FileNAS storage capacity
You purchase a 100 GiB Extreme FileNAS resource package for three months at 10:00:00 on January 30, 2024, and the package expires at 23:59:59 on April 30, 2024. Before expiration, the package can offset fees for 100 GiB of Extreme FileNAS storage capacity every hour:
- January 30, 2024, 10:00:00 - 10:59:59: The Extreme FileNAS storage capacity is 50 GiB, which can be fully covered by the package.
- January 30, 2024, 11:00:00 - 11:59:59: The Extreme FileNAS storage capacity is 150 GiB. Of this, 100 GiB are covered by the package. The remaining 50 GiB are charged at pay-as-you-go rates.
- January 30, 2024, 12:00:00 - 12:59:59: The Extreme FileNAS storage capacity is 100 GiB, while the Capacity FileNAS storage capacity is 10 GiB. Storage capacity fees for Extreme FileNAS are fully covered by the package, while storage capacity fees for Capacity FileNAS are charged at pay-as-you-go rates.
