Managing coupons
Coupons are a type of account asset issued to users by the Volcano Engine platform. They can be used to offset the bill amount for postpaid services and the order amount for prepaid services.
Considerations
  • Coupons cannot be withdrawn, transferred, invoiced, extended, or used across accounts. They do not cover overdue payments, and once used, they cannot be refunded.
  • Coupons can be used only within their validity period, which cannot be extended. A coupon cannot be used if it does not take effect or has expired when a pay‑as‑you‑go bill is generated or a prepaid order is placed.
For more details about coupons, see Billing Center – Coupon management.
Obtain coupons
Coupons can be obtained in the following ways:
  • Contact your account manager to apply for a coupon on your behalf.
  • Obtain coupons from promotional pages on the Volcano Engine official website. Coupons may vary based on different promotions. Check the official website for the specific promotions.
  • Redeem a redemption code obtained from other channels for a coupon.
Redeem coupons
  1. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Billing > Coupon management.
  1. On the Coupon management page, click Coupon redemption in the upper-right corner of the coupon list.
  1. In the Coupon redemption dialog box, enter your redemption code and click Redeem.
Use coupons
Coupons issued by the Volcano Engine platform can be used to offset the bill amount for postpaid services and the order amount for prepaid services.
  • Postpaid bill:
When a bill is generated and payment is due, the system matches available coupons based on the product, bill amount, and other conditions. If multiple coupons are available, they are sorted by priority and applied in order until the bill is fully covered or the coupon balance is used up.
If the coupon balance is less than the bill amount, you need to pay the remaining amount.
  • Prepaid orders:
On the order confirmation page, the system displays available coupons that match the product, order type, amount, and other conditions. Each order can use only one coupon. If multiple coupons are available, the system selects one based on priority by default. You can select another available coupon or choose not to use any coupon for this order.
If the coupon balance is less than the order amount, you need to pay the remaining amount using your account balance or cash.
Coupon usage priority
To maximize user benefits and ensure successful payments, coupons are prioritized step by step as follows. If conditions are equal, the system moves to the next level:
  1. Larger redeemable amount > smaller redeemable amount: Coupons with a larger redeemable amount are used first.
  1. Closer to expiry > farther from expiry: Coupons that expire sooner are used first.
  1. Multi-use > single-use: Multi-use coupons are used first.
  1. Smaller remaining balance > larger remaining balance: Coupons with a smaller remaining balance are used first.
  1. Narrower applicable scope > wider applicable scope: Coupons applicable to fewer services are used first.
  1. Higher spending threshold > lower spending threshold: Coupons with a higher minimum spend requirement (available for orders over X) are used first.
  1. If the priority still cannot be determined after the preceding steps:
  • Postpaid bills: The system randomly selects one among coupons with the same conditions for deduction.
  • Prepaid orders: The system randomly displays one of the coupons with the same conditions as the recommended choice.
View coupon usage records
  1. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Billing > Coupon management.

  1. View the usage records of the coupon.
