How to install an SSL certificate
The installation method for an SSL certificate varies depending on your use case. Details are as follows:
  • Use an SSL certificate on a web server to enable HTTPS for your website.
  • You can download the SSL certificate from the Certificate Center console and then install it on the corresponding server. When downloading the certificate, you can select the format based on your server type (e.g., Nginx, IIS). More information, see Download a Certificate.
  • Use an SSL certificate on supported VolcanoEngine Cloud Services, such as Content Delivery Network, to enable HTTPS for a domain name.
  • You can deploy an SSL certificate to supported VolcanoEngine Cloud Services from the Certificate Center console. For more information, see Certificate Deployment.
Why does the browser show a "Connection not secure" warning when users browse my website?
This issue may have the following causes:
  • Your website does not have an SSL certificate, so the client browser cannot establish a secure HTTPS connection with the web server.
  • Your website has an incorrect or invalid certificate installed. A correct and valid certificate must meet the following requirements:
  • The certificate is not expired and has not been revoked.
  • The certificate is issued by a trusted authority.
  • The domain name protected by the certificate matches your website's domain name.
  • The certificate is installed and configured correctly.
I installed a new certificate after the old one expired. Why does my browser still show a "Connection is not secure" warning?
An expired certificate is invalid and no longer trusted by browsers, which triggers a "Connection is not secure" alert. If your browser still shows a "Connection is not secure" alert after you have installed a new certificate, clear your browser's cache and visit the website again.
If the issue persists, check if you have installed the new certificate correctly. For more information, see Install a certificate on a server.
warning
We recommend that you request a new certificate and complete the replacement within 30 days before your old certificate expires to prevent any impact on your business.
