Creating a server group
This topic introduces how to create a backend server group.
Action description
  • The project associated with a backend server group defaults to the same project as the Classic Load Balancer (CLB) instance it belongs to.
  • After enabling the IP-type backend server group feature, only newly created instances currently support creating an IP-type backend server group.
  • A single CLB instance can have up to 20 backend server groups. If the default quota does not meet your needs, please go to Quota Center to increase the corresponding quota.
Procedures
  1. Log in to the CLB console.
  1. In the top menu bar, select the target project and region.
  1. Click the target instance name.
  1. On the Server Group tab, click Create server group.
  1. Configure relevant parameters based on the table below.
  •

    Parameter description
    Example
    Name
Enter the name of backend server group.
    rsp01
    Topic
Select the type of backend server group.
    • Server type: supports adding only ECS instances in the same VPC as the CLB instance or secondary network interfaces attached to ECS instances as backend servers.
    • IP type: supports adding only IP addresses as backend servers. You can add IP addresses from other VPCs or on-premises IDCs as backend servers, as long as they are network-reachable.
    tip
The IP-type server group feature is currently in beta and only supports trial applications from accounts that have completed enterprise authorization. Contact customer service support for trial access.
    Server type
    IP version
Protocol type for the backend server's private IP address.
    • IPv4: supports adding only IPv4 backend servers.
    • IPv6: supports adding only IPv6 backend servers. IPv6 is only supported when the CLB instance is dual-stack and the backend server group uses Server-type targets.
    IPv4
    All-port forwarding
All-port forwarding must be turned on only when the server group needs to associate a listener that listens on all ports.
    • Once enabled, all servers in the group will use all-port forwarding; specifying individual ports is not supported.
    • Applicable to scenarios where a backend server application opens a continuous port range. For more details, please refer to Creating a TCP protocol listener and Creating a UDP protocol listener.
    tip
The listener all-port listening feature is in the beta stage, and currently only supports the accounts that have completed Enterprise Authorization. If you need to use it, please contact your account manager.

    Tags
A tag consists of a key-value pair and is used for categorizing and searching resources For more information, see Tag management.
Click the add icon, enter the tag key and tag value, and add tags to the server group.
    • Tag key: rsp-key
    • Tag value: rsp-test

  1. Click OK to complete the action.
What to do next
After creating the server group, you also need to add backend servers to it.
