Tag Management
Overview
Tags are used to identify resources. You can use tags to mark and classify resources with the same characteristics, such as the purpose, type, owner, and environment. Based on tags, you can quickly find NLB resources or filter bills of related resources to implement separate accounting.
Application scenario
  • Group-based management
  • You can bind different tags to different environments (such as the production environment and test environment), different operating systems (such as Windows and Linux), or different client platforms (such as iOS and Android). For example, you can bind a tag, such as the key-value pair Test:Server-Windows, to all instances related to a test environment. Then during routine maintenance, you can find them easily by filtering instances by the tag.
  • Tag-based bill splitting
  • In team or project management, you can group groups, projects, and departments by using tags. For example, assigning the CostCenter:Project tag to a project. Then in the Billing Center, you can split bills based on tags. If you want to use tags for bill splitting, you must enable fee tags to apply tags to the breakdowns of bills. To do so, go to the Billing Center console, the select Bill management-Fee tag. For more information, refer to Fee tags.
Tag types
  • System tag: Tags that are automatically added to scaling groups or instances when they are created are system tags. System tags usually start with volc: or sys: and can only be viewed, not edited.
  • User tag: Tags that you manually add to resources are user tags. User tags cannot start with volc: or sys: in any form of capitalization.
Tag usage
  • A tag consists of a key and a value, both of which are case-sensitive. The value can be empty.
  • Keys in multiple tags of the same instance must be unique, and each key can have only one value.
  • Network Load Balancer (NLB) resources that support tag management include NLB instances, listeners, and server groups.
  • Tags added when creating an Internet NLB instance apply only to the NLB instance. Associated Elastic IP (EIP) addresses do not inherit these tags.
  • You can add up to 20 tags at a time and add up to 50 tags to each NLB resource.
Procedure
Binding a tag
  • Binding a tag when creating a resource
  • Binding a tag after creating a resource
  • Refer to Editing tags in the section below for adding tags.
Editing a tag
  1. Log in to the NLB console.
  1. In the top menu bar, select the target Region and target project.
  1. In the left-side navigation pane, select Instance Management or Server Group.
tip
When associating tags with a listener, go to the NLB instance details page and select the Listener tab.
  1. Hover over the number in the Tag column of the target resource and click the edit icon.
  • Add tags: Add new tag keys and tag values.
  • Edit tags: Directly modify the original tag key and tag value.
  • Delete a tag: Click the deletion icon on the right of the tag.
  1. Click the Confirm button to complete the action.
Searching instances based on tags
Instructions
  • You can add up to 10 tags at a time for a search.
  • If a search condition includes multiple tags, different tag keys are combined using AND logic. If multiple tag values are specified for the same tag key, those values are combined using OR logic.
  • During a search, the value of a tag can be left empty or set to null. If the tag value is left empty, the tag value is not limited by default during the search. If the tag value is set to null, tags with a null value are searched.
  • During a search, you can add up to three values for a single key.
tip
You may need to add multiple values for a single key in a search, as keys in tags of different cloud resources can have the same value.
Examples
When searching for cloud resource instances by tag dimensions, the search criteria are defined as follows:
Tag key 1: key1; tag values: value1 and value2.
Tag key 2: key2; tag values: no specified values.
The cloud resource instances found in the result must meet all of the following requirements:
  • The keys include key1 and key2.
  • If the key is key1, the value can be either value1 or value2.
  • If the key is key2, the value can be any value.
Procedure
  1. Log in to the NLB console.
  1. In the top menu bar, select the target Region and target project.
  1. In the left-side navigation pane, select Instance Management or Server Group.
tip
When searching for listeners by tags, select the Listener tab on the NLB instance details page.
  1. In the Tag column, click the filter icon.
  1. Select or enter the keys and values of the tag.
tip
  • You can add up to 10 keys and configure up to three values for each key at a time.
  • The relationship between multiple Tag keys is a logical AND, and the relationship between multiple Tag values of the same Tag key is a logical OR.
  1. Click OK to search for resources.

tip
By default, IAM users do not have permissions to use tags. If you want to use tags as an IAM user, refer to Granting permissions to use NLB tags to add a custom policy and grant permissions to IAM users.
