This topic describes the parameters you need to configure when connecting VolcanoEngine Message Queue RocketMQ Edition using the Community edition Java SDK.
Common parameters

Parameter Name
Parameter description
NAMESRV_ADDR
Set the TCP protocol endpoint, which can be obtained from the instance details page on the VolcanoEngine console.
AccessKey
The AccessKey ID you create on the VolcanoEngine console—Instance page—Key Management, used for identity authentication.
SecretKey
You can create an AccessKey Secret for authentication on the key management page of the instance in the VolcanoEngine console.

Message sending parameters

Parameter Name
Parameter description
ProducerGroup
Producer group name. If multiple producers belong to the same application and send identical messages, they should be grouped together. This refers to the Group ID you create in the VolcanoEngine RocketMQ console.
sendMsgTimeout
Message sending timeout in milliseconds.
compressMsgBodyOverHowmuch
Compress message body if it exceeds the specified size (Consumer will automatically decompress upon receipt). Default: 4 KB.
retryTimesWhenSendFailed
If a message fails to send, the maximum number of retries only applies to synchronous sending mode.
maxMessageSize
Maximum message size allowed on the client side. If the size is exceeded, an error occurs. The server also enforces its own limit, so client and server settings must be coordinated. Default value: 4 MB.

Message subscription parameters

Parameter Name
Parameter description

Consumer group name. If multiple consumers belong to the same application, subscribe to the same messages, and follow the same consumption logic, they should be assigned to the same group—the Group ID you created in the VolcanoEngine RocketMQ console.
consumeFromWhere
After a new Consumer Group starts, it determines where to begin pulling messages. By default, it pulls from the latest position.
consumeThreadMin
Minimum number of threads in the consumption thread pool. Default: 20.
consumeThreadMax
The maximum number of threads in the consumer thread pool. Default: 20. Keep consistent with the minimum number of threads.
consumeConcurrentlyMaxSpan
Maximum offset span allowed for parallel consumption in a single queue. Default: 2000. Range: [1, 65535].
pullThresholdForQueue
The maximum number of messages cached in the local queue when pulling messages. Default value: 1000 messages, range: [1, 65535].
pullThresholdSizeForQueue
The maximum number of locally cached messages in a single queue. Default: 100 MB; range: [1, 1024].
maxReconsumeTimes
Maximum retry attempts. Default: 16 times.
