Manage backup plans
A backup plan links backup sources and backup policies. You can create a backup plan to enable scheduled automatic backups of backup sources. This document explains how to create and manage backup plans on the CBR console, including operation methods and precautions.
Prerequisites
Limitations
  • A maximum of 300 backup plans can be created per account in the same region.
  • A single backup plan supports adding up to 300 backup sources.
Precautions
  • Backup performance SSD is not supported; performance SSDs belong to the previous generation of cloud products and are gradually discontinued.
  • A single backup source supports up to 10 recovery points (including manual and automatic backup recovery points). When the number of recovery points exceeds 10, backups cannot proceed and recovery points must be deleted first.
  • Only one active task (backup or restore) can exist for a single backup source at a time. New tasks automatically queue, with a maximum queue length of 2; tasks exceeding this limit will fail to create.
Create a backup plan
  1. Select the target region in the top navigation bar.
  1. In the left navigation bar, select Backup Plan to enter the Backup Plan page.
  1. Click Create Backup Plan.
  1. In the Create Backup Plan panel, configure backup plan parameters as follows:
  •
    Parameter items
    Is it mandatory
    Parameter description
    Basic information

    Backup Plan Name
    Yes
Set the name of the backup plan. The naming rules are as follows:
    • Start with a letter, Chinese character, or underscore (_).
    • Can include letters, Chinese characters, numbers, underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
    • The length must be between 1 and 128 characters.
    Select backup source
    is
Add a backup source by following these steps:
    1. Select the backup source type as ECS whole machine.
    1. Select the ECS backup source.
    tip
Backup sources associated with other backup plans cannot be selected. The same backup source can be linked to only one backup plan at the same time.
    1. Select the cloud disk to back up.
    • By default, all cloud disks mounted on ECS instances are automatically backed up. You can uncheck automatic backup for all cloud disks mounted on ECS instances according to your business needs, then select at least one cloud disk to back up from the list below.
    tip
    • Performance SSDs are not supported; they belong to a previous generation of cloud products and have been gradually discontinued.
    • Repeat the above steps to add multiple backup sources; a single backup plan supports up to 300 backup sources.
    1. Click Add backup source and follow the above steps to add multiple backup sources in the current backup plan.
    • A single backup plan supports up to 300 backup sources.
    Backup Policy
    No
    Select a backup policy.
    tip
    • If the available policies do not meet your needs, click Backup Policy dropdown menu and select Create Backup Policy to go to the Backup Policy page to create one. For detailed steps, see Create Backup Policy. After creating the policy, return to the Create Backup Plan page, click the Refresh icon to the right of the Backup Policy dropdown menu, then select the newly created backup policy from the list.
    • If no backup policy is selected or the chosen policy is disabled, the system will not automatically back up the specified backup sources after successfully creating the backup plan.
    Backup storage space

    ECS
    Yes
The storage location of the backup data depends on the backup data storage method of the backup source.
ECS full machine backup relies on the cloud disk snapshot service. The backup storage space is managed by the cloud disk snapshot service. For detailed information about cloud disk snapshots, see Cloud Disk Snapshot.

  1. Click Confirm.
  • After successfully creating the backup plan, the system automatically backs up all backup sources in the plan according to the configured policy.
