Manually back up ECS local file backup source
This article introduces the operation steps and considerations for manually backing up the ECS local file backup source on the CBR Console.
Tip
The ECS local file backup service is currently in invitation test status. Contact your account manager to whitelist if you need to use it.
Background information
After successfully creating the ECS local file backup source task, CBR automatically generates corresponding recovery points. You can use these recovery points to restore or manually delete backup data.
Prerequisites
  • The target backup source must exist; otherwise, create the ECS local file backup source first.
  • The target backup source status must be Available. Backup sources in other statuses do not support manual backup operations.
Notes
  • A single backup task can back up up to 20 directories.
  • Only one task (including backup and restore tasks) can run simultaneously for a single backup source. New tasks automatically enter a queue, which can hold only one queued task; tasks exceeding this limit will fail to be created.
  • When a single backup source is linked to multiple backup plans, the backup directories specified in each backup policy must not overlap.
Steps
  1. Log in to the Cloud backup console.
  1. In the top navigation bar, select the region.
  1. In the left navigation bar, select Public cloud backup > Backup source management > ECS local files.
  1. On the ECS local file backup source management page, click Manually Back up in the Actions column next to the target backup source to open the Manual Back up panel.
  1. In the Manual Back up panel, configure the manual backup parameters as explained below:
  •
    Parameter item
    Required
    Parameter description
    Backup name
    Yes
Set the name of the recovery point using the following rules:
    • Start with letters or Chinese characters.
    • Only letters, numbers, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.) are allowed; letters are case-sensitive.
    • Length must be between 1 and 128 characters.
    Tip
The manual backup name includes the prefix manualbackup_, which cannot be modified.
    Instance name/ID
    Yes
Displays the ECS instance names and IDs included in the current backup source; modification is not supported.
    Backup target
    Yes
Enter the backup path to be backed up.
    Recovery point retention period
    Yes
Select and set the retention period for recovery points in the backup storage space.
    • Retain xxx days and then will be deleted automatically: Set the retention days; recovery points will be automatically deleted from the backup storage space after the specified number of days.
    • Keep retaining: Recovery points will be retained indefinitely in the backup storage space.
    Backup repository
    Yes
    Backup data storage location.

  1. Click OK to start the manual backup task for the current backup source.
  • After enabling manual backup, the status of the current backup source in the backup source list will change to Backing up, and a new recovery point for the current backup source will automatically be added to the recovery point management list with the status Backing up.
