Managing backup sources

Create ECS full machine backup source

This document describes how to create an ECS full machine backup source on the console and important considerations.

Prerequisites

Volcano Engine Cloud Backup service has been activated.

tip

Cloud Backup itself does not charge any fees; its use depends on other cloud service products, which may incur costs. For example, ECS full machine backup relies on the EBS snapshot service, which charges fees. For detailed billing of the snapshot service, see Snapshot Billing.

The ECS instance to be backed up has been purchased. For how to create an ECS instance, see Purchase ECS Instance through Wizard.

ECS snapshot service has been activated. You can log in to the Cloud Server Console, go to Storage > Snapshots page to activate or view snapshots.

Steps

Select the region in the top navigation bar.

Select Backup Source Management > ECS Whole Machine in the left navigation bar.

Click Create Backup Source to open the Create Backup Source dialog.

Select the target ECS instance.

tip

If multiple ECS instances are selected, one ECS whole machine backup source will be created for each selected ECS instance.

Click Confirm.
