This document introduces the prerequisites and considerations for data restoration, as well as the steps to restore backup data from a recovery point on the Cloud Backup Console. ## Prerequisites The target recovery point exists and is in an **Available** state. ## Notes * During data restoration, do not delete the restoration path in the backup source file system; otherwise, data restoration will fail. * A single backup source can only have one ongoing task (including backup and restore tasks) at any given time. New tasks will be queued automatically. The maximum queue length is two; tasks exceeding this limit will fail to start. ## Steps 1. Log in to the [Volcano Engine Cloud Backup Console](https://console.volcengine.com/cbr/region:cbr+cn-shanghai/restore-point). 2. Select the region of the backup source in the top menu bar. 3. In the left navigation bar, select **Recovery point management ** to enter the **Recovery point management** page. 4. In the list, click **Restore** in the **Actions** column of the target restore point. 5. Set the restore parameters in the **Restore** panel. * For parameter description, refer to [Restore vePFS backup data](https://www.volcengine.com/docs/84346/1767712). * The restore parameters vary with different backup source products. For vePFS backup, refer to [Restore vePFS backup data](https://www.volcengine.com/docs/84346/1767712). 6. Click **OK**. ## Parameter description When the backup source type is vePFS, set the following restore parameters: |Parameter item |Required |Parameter description | |---|---|---| |Recovery task name |Yes |Set the name of the restore task. Naming rules are as follows:

* Start with a letter, Chinese character, or underscore (_).

* Can include letters, Chinese characters, numbers, underscores (_), and hyphens (\-).

* Length must be between 1 and 119 characters.

tip

The restore task name has a fixed prefix manualrecovery_. The prefix cannot be modified.

| |Backup source type |Yes |Default display of **vePFS**, modification not supported. | |Instance name/ID |No |Default display of `/`, modification not supported. | |Restore point information |No |Display current restore point information:

* **Restore point name/ID**: the name and ID of the current restore point.

* **Usage**: the amount of data in the current restore point, measured in GiB.

* **Backup storage space**: the TOS bucket name storing the current restore point.

* **Backup start/end time**: the time when backup started and completed, accurate to the second. | |Restoring objects |Yes |Select files to restore from the recovery point, optional:

* **All files**: Restore all.

* **Select specific files**: Choose paths to restore files under the selected paths.

* **Exclude specific files**: Choose paths to restore files in all paths except the selected ones. | |restore to |Yes |By default, **original instance** is selected, restoring data to the backup source file system without modification support. | |Restore path |Yes |Set the target path for restoration (optional):

* **Original path**: Restore data to the original path.

* **Absolute path**: Restore data to the specified absolute path.

tip

When selecting Absolute path, the restored file path will be: Restoration path + Original path of the backup data. For example, if the original path of the backup data is /root/file.txt and the restoration path is set to /rootdir/, the full restored path will be /rootdir/root/file.txt.

If the restoration path does not exist, CBR will automatically create the corresponding path in the backup source file system after creating the restore task according to the restoration path settings.

Do not delete the restoration path in the file system during the data restoration process, as this will cause the restoration to fail.

| |Handling of files with the same name |Yes |When restoring data from backup storage, if files with the same name exist in the restore path, the system supports three handling strategies. The default is **skip:**

* **Skip**: Automatically skip files with the same name without overwriting or merging; the original files remain unchanged.

* **Overwrite**: Directly overwrite files with the same name. Overwritten files cannot be recovered; proceed with caution.

* **Keep latest**: Compare the last modified times of files with the same name in the backup and target storage spaces, retaining the newer version; overwritten old versions cannot be recovered. |
