Billing overview
This topic outlines the billing details for vePFS, covering billing types, cycles, components, and formulas.
Billing method
- Currently, vePFS only supports pay-as-you-go billing. Subscription billing is not an option.
- Pay-as-you-go is a postpaid billing method, which means you use the service first and then pay for it. Specifically, bills are calculated by multiplying the specifications you select for your file system by the billing cycle. You can settle the fees after the bill is generated.
Billing cycle
vePFS tracks the usage of all billable items on an hourly basis and generates bills based on the usage.
Billing components
- The cost of using vePFS consists of:
- Base charge: The storage capacity fee incurred during the use of vePFS.
tip
Storage capacity is calculated in binary units. For example, 1 GiB equals 1,024 MiB.
- Value-added costs: Expenses related to advanced features provided by vePFS. Examples include the Data flow bandwidth fee generated by the Data Flow feature and the protocol service bandwidth fee generated by the protocol service.
Billing formula
vePFS calculates service fees based on standard capacity and length of time, both of which are billed on an hourly basis. The formula is as follows: Hourly cost for storage capacity = Storage capacity × Monthly rate ÷ 30 (days) ÷ 24 (hours).
tip
The price unit for storage capacity is ¥/GiB/month. In practice, the billing platform converts ¥/GiB/month to ¥/GiB/hour using the following formula: Hourly rate = Monthly rate ÷ 30 (days) ÷ 24 (hours).
Associated costs
Creating a mount service will provision three Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances on a pay-as-you-go basis to act as client management nodes. ECS will charge you for using its features. For more information on ECS instance billing, see Billing by instance type. warning
- Before creating a mount service, ensure that the availability zone of your vePFS file system meets the requirements of your chosen ECS instance type.
