Manage Fileset
This article describes how to manage Fileset in the vePFS console, including steps to create, view, modify, and delete Fileset.
Background information
Fileset is a small data set in the vePFS file storage. It has a dedicated inode space and management capability. You can use Fileset as the smallest unit to set specific data policies and Quota configurations.
Prerequisites
You have created a file system. For details, see Creating file systems.
Notice
  • The maximum number of Fileset that can be created in a single file system is:
  • 100MB/s/TiB_Edition: 10.
  • Performance_Edition and Intelligent_Computing_Edition: 100.
  • The default inode limit within a fileset is as follows:
  • 100MB/s/TiB Edition: 10 million
  • 300MB/s/TiB Edition: 10 million
  • Intelligent_Computing_Edition: 200 million
  • You can configure quotas and QoS for a fileset, and these settings apply only to the current fileset. For details, see Set Fileset Quotas and QoS. The relationship between fileset and file system performance is as follows:
  • The total capacity quota for all Filesets can exceed the maximum capacity of the file system
  • The total file quota for all Filesets can exceed the maximum number of files in the file system
  • The total QoS of all Filesets can exceed the maximum performance of the file system
  • If files or directories in a Fileset reach the inode limit, writing data will result in a direct error
  • To ensure business continuity and prevent data writes from failing when inodes are full, set up alerts for Fileset inode usage in cloud monitoring For detailed steps, see Configure alert rules
  • If the number of used files exceeds 80% of the file quota, clean up files or submit a ticket to increase the file limit to avoid business disruptions
  • Nesting Filesets within a Fileset is not supported
Create a fileset
  1. Log in to the vePFS Console.
  1. In the top menu bar, select the region of the file system you want to manage.
  1. In the left navigation pane, click File System > File System List.
  1. On the File System page, click the file system you want to manage.
  1. On the Overview page of the file system, click the Fileset tab.
  1. On the Fileset tab, click Create Fileset.
  1. In the Create Fileset dialog box, set the following parameters.
  •
    Parameter
    Note
    Instance ID
vePFS file system ID for the created Fileset. Auto-filled by the system and cannot be changed.
    Fileset name
Set the Fileset name. Name it according to the following conventions:
    • Start with English letters or Chinese characters.
    • The permission group name can only contain Chinese characters, letters, numbers, periods (.), underscores (_), or hyphens (-).
    • Be between 1 and 128 characters long.
    Fileset path
Set the Fileset path in the vePFS file system. Restrictions are as follows:
    • Enter the absolute path of the directory in the file system, starting and ending with a forward slash (/).
    • Can contain letters, numbers, periods (.), underscores (_), hyphens (-), and forward slashes (/).
    • The path format should be /<parent_directory>/<subdirectory>/, where:
    • The parent directory must be an existing directory.
    • The subdirectory is the directory name to create during this Fileset creation, which corresponds to the Fileset and is automatically created by the system.
    • Path example: /dir/Filesetdir/.
    • The path cannot exceed 8 directory levels.
    • The total length of the path string must be less than 1,018 characters, and the length of each subpath segment must be less than 255 characters.

  1. Click OK.
tip
  • Creating a Fileset takes some time. Please wait patiently.
  • If the Fileset path you set is invalid, the creation will fail.
