Audit log overview
The audit log feature in vePFS file storage records actions performed on files within specified directories. You can configure audit policies to select the types of actions to track and generate access logs for traceability and analysis. This topic introduces the usage and billing information for the vePFS file storage audit log feature.
- The audit log feature is currently available by invitation; contact your account manager to access it.
- Only one audit policy can be created for each file system.
- Enabling the audit log feature consumes both capacity and performance of the file system. Enabling middle-risk actions such as OPEN generates large log volumes. Configure audit policies based on your actual needs to avoid affecting frontend business.
- The audit log path is the hidden directory /.audit_log under the root of the file system. Monitor the log directory's capacity after enabling this feature to prevent impact on frontend business.
- Deploying or changing the audit policy may cause IO hangs in the file system lasting from 5 seconds to 3 minutes. The length of time depends on business workload. Adjust audit policies during off-peak hours to minimize disruption.
The audit log feature is free. When vePFS stores files and delivers audit logs to Volcano Engine Log Service, charges are based on the actual data written and other factors. For more charging details, see Log Service Billing items.
