Proxy Protocol passthrough
To obtain the source IP address when using products such as Nginx, HAProxy, or VolcanoEngine NLB as proxy products and configuring the TCP access point to resolve to the internal network, you can configure Proxy Protocol at the proxy layer. After configuring Proxy Protocol at the proxy layer, since the Proxy Protocol modifies the original packet, you must also enable Proxy Protocol parsing in the MQTT product. This topic describes how to modify the proxy protocol settings in the MQTT product.
Architecture description
Constraints and limitations
- Message Queue MQTT version supports PPv1 and PPv2, and can automatically identify and parse both PPv1 and PPv2 protocols.
- The open-source version of Nginx typically only supports PPv1. To use PPv2, use other products.
- VolcanoEngine NLB supports PPv2.
- Log in to the MQTT Dashboard.
- In the navigation bar, select Management > Cluster configuration > Listener, and click the name of the listener to be modified.
- In the Proxy protocol drop-down menu, select whether to enable or disable the Proxy Protocol.
- true: Indicates that Proxy Protocol is enabled
- false: Indicates that Proxy Protocol is disabled
warning
Modifying the configuration will cause the listener to restart, and connected clients will be disconnected. Please proceed with caution.
