Remarks
TOS offers a variety of storage types, including Standard Storage, Infrequent Access Storage, Archive, Cold Archive, and Deep Cold Archive. These options cover a wide range of data storage needs, from hot to cold.
✅
For buckets with hierarchical namespace enabled, check the console to see if multi-AZ redundancy is available.
With the lifecycle feature, you can configure rules to periodically move objects between storage types or delete expired objects, such as cold data stored in Archive or Deep Cold Archive.
✅
  • You cannot use lifecycle rules to transition a directory because directories only support Standard Storage.
  • Once a directory meets the expiration condition, TOS will only delete it after all of its subdirectories and objects have been deleted. Lifecycle rules do not support deleting non-empty directories.
  • The expiration of a directory is determined by its creation time rather than its last modified time.
You can use TOS to host a static website. First, store all contents of the website in a TOS bucket. Next, configure rules to host the website so that it can be accessed via the bucket's domain name.
✅
-
You can set up a back-to-origin rule to retrieve missing objects from the specified origin server directly whenever they are requested from your bucket.
✅
-
TOS can deliver notifications for certain event changes to Volcano Engine Function as a Service (veFaaS). This feature helps you monitor resource changes in real time.
✅
The following events are supported by event notifications on HNS buckets:
  • tos:ObjectCreated:Put
  • tos:ObjectCreated:Post
  • tos:ObjectCreated:Copy
  • tos:ObjectCreated:CompleteUpload
  • tos:ObjectCreated:Modify
  • tos:ObjectRemoved:Delete
  • tos:ObjectRemoved:TrashMoved
  • tos:LifecycleExpiration:Delete
  • tos:LifecycleExpiration:TrashMoved
  • tos:ObjectRestore:Post
  • tos:ObjectRestore:Completed
  • tos:LifecycleTransition
  • tos:ObjectRename
Tags help you categorize buckets by purpose, type, owner, environment or other criteria, making managing cloud resources easier.
✅
-
You can use the bucket inventory feature to create inventory lists on a schedule that you define, for either a given bucket, or objects that share a prefix. Inventory lists include object size, storage type, and last update date.
✅
  • Exporting replication status or encryption status of objects in HNS buckets is not supported.
  • The first inventory file will be delivered within 48 hours when you create a bucket inventory rule for the first time.
With the batch processing feature, you can perform certain operations on multiple objects in a bucket. For example, you can copy data in bulk or replace access control lists (ACLs) for objects in bulk.
❌
-
TOS lets you rename objects using the RenameObject feature.
✅
The settings for HNS and FNS buckets differ. For more information, see Supported APIs (HNS buckets).
Bucket policies are strategies that apply to individual buckets and their associated resources. You can use them to grant other users permission to access the corresponding resources.
✅
-
Volcano Engine offers Identity and Access Management (IAM), a system that controls access to cloud resources for different identities. Through IAM policies, you can assign permissions to IAM users for the corresponding resources.
✅
-
An ACL is a mechanism for managing read and write access based on user accounts, where the bucket or object owner has full control over the resource. You can grant an Identity and Access Management (IAM) master account read and write permissions for the current bucket and its ACL. Then, the grantee can access the bucket using the access key ID (AK) and secret access key (SK).
✅
-
An ACL is a mechanism for managing read and write access based on user accounts, where the bucket or object owner has full control over the resource. You can use the TOS console to set ACL permissions for an object.
✅
-
You can use cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) rules to secure data transfers across domains (origins). When TOS receives a CORS or OPTIONS request, it reads the CORS rules of the bucket, performs permission checks, and returns the appropriate headers.
✅
-
If you wish to use your own domain name to access objects stored in TOS, you can associate your custom domain with the bucket. After association, you can use the corresponding domain name to access your objects.
✅
-
You can use cross-region replication to automatically copy objects from one bucket to another in different regions. This feature lets you filter which objects are replicated and monitor their progress.
❌
-
You can use same-region replication to automatically copy objects across buckets in the same region. This feature lets you filter which objects are replicated and monitor their progress.
❌
-
You can use the versioning feature to keep multiple versions of objects in your bucket so that you can restore objects that are accidentally deleted.
❌
-
With multi-AZ redundancy, you can store data across multiple availability zones in the same region. This ensures that your storage service will be stable even if one zone fails.
✔️
Only the China (Beijing) region supports multi-AZ redundancy for HNS buckets.
An image style is a template that contains multiple image processing parameters such as format conversion and progressive display. You can use an image style to process multiple images uniformly, thereby simplifying operations.
❌
-
Original image protection is a security feature that prevents unauthorized access to images by anonymous users.
❌
-
The TOS console offers a comprehensive overview of your bucket, providing insights into storage usage, transferred data volume, request counts, and other basic data.
❌
-
You can retrieve and analyze access logs generated during your interactions with TOS through Torch Log Service.
❌
-
Storage Lens is an analytics feature that provides insight into TOS resource usage and activity. You can use it to generate summary insights, such as total storage usage, the total number of objects, and bytes of historical object versions or incomplete multipart uploads.
✅
-
An upload callback is a process in which the client includes callback parameters in its upload request. Once the upload is complete, the TOS server sends a synchronous POST request with the parameters to the specified third-party application server. The client only receives the results once the application server acknowledges the request and sends a response.
❌
-
With server-side encryption, TOS encrypts your uploaded data before storing it. When you download these objects, TOS automatically decrypts the data and sends it back to you.
❌
-
You can set up double-gated access control over your bucket resources by configuring VPC endpoint and bucket policies. This allows you to restrict access to specific resources within a private network and to specific VPCs simultaneously.
❌
-
Security configurations control the prompt level for dangerous operations. At a high level, deleting data requires manual confirmation, effectively reducing accidental operations.
❌
-
TOS allows you to process image files stored within it. You can initiate image processing by including the appropriate parameters in requests made through the GetObject API. Supported features include resizing, cropping, and watermarking images.
❌
-
TOS allows you to process video files stored within it. You can initiate video processing by including the appropriate parameters in requests made through the GetObject API. Supported features include extracting video frames and retrieving video metadata.
❌
-
A TOS single-region access point is an endpoint that can be configured with independent permissions. It provides a dedicated domain name for a bucket. You can create multiple access points for the same bucket. This enables you to tailor access control and access methods for different businesses or user groups.
✅

-
TOS offers an accelerator feature at the availability zone level that stores frequently accessed objects on NVMe SSDs, a high-performance storage medium. This feature provides quick responses with millisecond-level latency and high data transfer rates for demanding business workloads.
