Managing tasks
This topic describes the basic operations for managing asynchronous tasks, such as viewing task status and terminating tasks.
Viewing task status
veFaaS records the status changes of each task and supports real-time status queries. After an asynchronous task is submitted, you can view its execution status on the Asynchronous task tab. You can query the status of tasks for up to the last 24 hours.
An asynchronous task may be in one of the following states:

Status
Description
Pending
The task has been submitted and remains to be scheduled.
Running
The task has been scheduled and is in progress.
Retrying
The task is being retried due to a system error. After rescheduling, the task status changes to Running.
tip
Automatic retrying only on system errors is supported. The initial retry interval is 1 second. Retry intervals follow a binary exponential backoff pattern: 1s, 2s, 4s, 8s, and so on, with a maximum retry interval of 3 hours.
Succeeded
The task is executed successfully.
Failed
Task execution failed.
Terminated
The task has been terminated. If the call is terminated manually, the task status changes to Terminated.

Terminating tasks
Before a task finishes executing, you can manually terminate the task at any time. You may need to terminate a task before it finishes in scenarios such as abnormal function execution and infinite loops. After a task is terminated, its status changes to Terminated.
warning
  • If you terminate an asynchronous task running in Webserver mode:
  • If multiple concurrent requests per instance are disabled, veFaaS terminates the requests and restarts the webserver process.
  • If multiple concurrent requests per instance are enabled, veFaaS only cancels the corresponding requests. Make sure that cancellation signals are handled as expected in the business logic. For example, listen to Context cancellation signals and terminate business logic execution. Otherwise, your business logic may continue to run after requests are canceled. As a result, resources are wasted, or the tasks do not stop as expected.
  • If you terminate an asynchronous task running in non-Webserver mode, veFaaS terminates the corresponding task process.
  1. On the Asynchronous task tab of the target function, select the ID of the task to be terminated from the task list, and in the Actions column, click Stop invocation.
  1. In the pop-up confirmation dialog box, click Confirm to terminate the task.
