Resource package

Resource package is a discount plan for different billing items of Volcano Engine Function as a Service (veFaaS). It is a prepaid package and offers higher discounts than pay-as-you-go method. After you purchase specified resource packages, the actual usage of veFaaS will be offset by the balance in the resource packages.

Resource package overview

veFaaS offers various resource packages for different billing items. Currently, function invocation count resource packages, CPU resource packages, and many other resource packages are available. Each type of resource package can only be used to offset its designated billing item. After you purchase resource packages, you can enjoy an equal amount of resources with more preferential prices, thus reducing your expenses.

Resource package deduction rules

The following table describes the detailed deduction rules for veFaaS resource packages. For more information, see Deduction rules in the Billing center.

Category	Description
Effective date	The resource package takes effect immediately after purchase. The validity period of each type of resource package is 12 months. The resource package begins to take effect since the day of purchase, and expires when the validity period ends. After expiration, the credit of the resource package automatically becomes invalid. When the resource package expires or the credit is used up, the pay-as-you-go billing method will be used.
Offset order	If the resource package still has remaining balance within the validity period, it will be first used to offset business usage, till the resource package exhausts and then automatically exchanges to pay-as-you-go billing method. If you have purchased multiple resource packages of the same type, the resource package which expires sooner will be used for offset first. Resource package > Pay-as-you-go (coupons settlement) > Pay-as-you-go.
Offset scope	Resource package supports China's nationwide use. The offset can only be applied under the current account in the server-launching regions in China's mainland. Cross-account and cross-product offset is not supported. The resource package does not support cross-billing-region offset. For example, the resource package used in China's nationwide only supports offsetting the usage generated in the billing regions in China's mainland, and cannot offset the usage generated in other billing regions.
Billing method	The resource package adopts a prepaid method. Resource packages are only used to offset the fees generated after you have purchased resource packages. For the fees generated before the purchase of resource packages, the pay-as-you-go billing method is still used.
Purchase limit	The resource package supports cumulative purchases, and does not limit the times of purchase.
Supports renewal or not	Renewal is not supported. veFaaS resource package gradually decreases with a fixed total volume. As it offsets fees, the balance continues to decrease till it is exhausted or expires.

How to purchase resource packages

To purchase resource packages, IAM users need to ensure that they have authorized VeFaaSFullAccess policy If one of the preceding policies is not attached, contact the root user or the administrator for authorization. For specific operations, refer to Creating user and authorize.

You can view the purchase records and usage of resource packages in the Billing center > Resource instance management > Resource package, to determine whether you need to continue to purchase resource packages.

Select Overview on the left navigation bar, and then click Buy now in the Resource Package area on the page.

Select resource package type, specifications, and purchase quantity; confirm the cost; then click Buy now.

On the order confirmation information page, select whether to use coupons for payment, and then click Next to complete payments and purchase resource packages.
