Automatically building and deploying applications
veFaaS supports pushing source code to a target code repository. By using event triggers in the code repository, applications can achieve automatic build and deployment. This topic uses the FastAPI application template as an example to demonstrate how to create applications that are automatically built and deployed.
tip
  • veFaaS integrates code pushing and deployment workflows into the application creation process. You can easily implement automatic application creation and deployment by configuring code repository settings and completing authorization as described in this topic.
  • This feature is available only in China (Beijing) and China (Guangzhou).
  • Only certain application templates support code repository configuration. You can visit the console to see those supported templates.
Considerations
  • veFaaS requires a binding to your GitHub account and correct permission authorization to import source code to code repositories and enable event-based triggering. For details on the required permissions, see the authorization page in the console.
  • This feature requires a 4C8G Continuous Delivery instance. For billing details, see Billing.
Background information
FastAPI is a high-performance Python web framework specifically designed for rapidly building APIs. Its core strengths lie in exceptional development efficiency and near-native runtime performance, while natively supporting the latest API specifications such as OpenAPI and Swagger UI.
Prerequisites
  • A GitHub account has been created.
Procedure
  1. Log in to veFaaS console.
  1. In the top navigation pane, select the target region.
  1. In the left navigation pane, click App >My app.
  1. On the application page, click Create app.
  1. Click FastAPI in the pop-up window.
  1. Configure the application.
  • Basic information
  •
    Parameter
    Description
    Name
The name of the application. The name is automatically generated by default.

  • Resource allocation
  •
    Parameter
    Description
    Region
The region where the application and its associated cloud resources are located.
    Function name
Specify a custom name for the function.
    API Gateway Instance
Select the target API Gateway instance. The resources related to the API Gateway trigger, including services, Upstream, and routes, will be automatically created for this API Gateway instance.

  • Code repository configuration
tip
Code repository configuration enables automatic application build and deployment.
  •
    Parameter
    Description
    Associated code repository
Click the toggle to disable or enable this feature. This feature is enabled by default.
    Warehouse type
    Only GitHub is supported.
    Username
Click GitHub authorization on the right side. After authorization is complete, select the authorized GitHub account.
    New code repository name
The automatically generated name of the code repository. After the application is created, a private code repository with that name will be created within the associated GitHub account.

  1. Read disclaimer, select the I am aware of the Deployment Risks 《Disclaimer》 checkbox, and click Create.
What to do next
Application deployment can be automatically triggered by code repository events such as Pull requests, Pushes, and Releases. For details, view the Webhook configuration of the corresponding code repository.
