Consuming cloud-native messaging engine BMQ veFaaS
This topic includes the advantages, use cases, business examples, and related documentation links for consuming the cloud-native messaging engine BMQ via veFaaS.
Advantages
veFaaS is an event-driven, fully managed Serverless computing platform. With the BMQ trigger provided by the veFaaS, developers can easily connect to the BMQ Topic to be consumed, without worrying about the details of message consumption, allowing full focus on the business logic of message processing.
  • Low entry barrier: no language barrier, no need to learn big data frameworks, only focus on the business logic of message processing.
  • Low operation cost: no need to manage or maintain underlying infrastructure such as servers, and provides general governance of MQ consumption.
  • Automatic scaling: automatic scale-in/out for function instances based on business traffic to ensure reliable service operation.
  • Low resource cost: computing resources are billed based on request count and actual execution time, and there is no charge if no execution is performed, further reducing resource costs. It also supports multiple concurrent requests per instance to improve resource utilization.
Use scenarios
veFaaS is suitable for general large-scale, elastic consumption scenarios, mainly including:
  • Real-time ETL: use of triggers allows customized processing and storage of upstream data.
  • Offline consumption: applicable to scenarios with large amounts of data, multiple data sources, and significant traffic variations, considerably reducing costs.
  • Middleware scenario: maintains and manages numerous consumers without requiring resource or scaling management.
Business example
MQ middleware usually needs to handle hundreds to thousands of message queues, which involve tremendous traffic and considerable upstream and downstream. Therefore, there is a high standard required in terms of resource isolation, dynamic scaling, and efficient development and maintenance. With the BMQ trigger provided by the veFaaS, a large number of BMQ consumers can be quickly connected and managed without worrying about consumer implementation. You only need to build message processing logic by using a familiar programming language for efficient consumption, processing, and delivery of messages. Moreover, relying on the serverless and automatic scaling capability provided by the veFaaS, users do not need to manage function resource allocation. Function instances automatically scale according to business traffic, and the payment applies only to the function execution time, lowering resource costs in scenarios with considerable traffic variations. Finally, using the OpenAPI provided by the veFaaS, users can quickly and conveniently build their own business platforms.
