Renewal Management

Overview of renewal

After successfully activating annual or monthly subscription resources, customers can renew these resources. Volcano Engine supports three types of renewals: manual renewal (unified expiration date), automatic renewal (automatic renewal deduction date), and no renewal upon expiration.

Renewal rules

Manual renewal, automatic renewal, and no renewal all take effect before the release of expired annual or monthly subscription instances.

Annual or monthly subscription instances in "running" status support setting the renewal type to manual, automatic, or no renewal; those in "about to shut down," "shut down," or "refund shutdown" status only support restoring to manual renewal.

Reserved instance coupons in "running" status support manual renewal, automatic renewal, or no renewal before expiration; coupons in "about to shut down," "shut down," or "refund shutdown" status do not support renewal.

Instances in "refund shutdown" status will have automatic renewal disabled after unsubscribe and only support manual renewal before final release.

Resources with strong binding relationships must be renewed together (such as cloud servers and system disks); those with weak binding relationships can be optionally renewed with other instances (such as a public IP bound to a cloud server).

For instances in temporary upgrade periods, renewal fees will be calculated based on the original configuration before the temporary upgrade, and the instance's final expiration time will be extended accordingly.

Explanation of the renewal list instance status

Status	explain

Shut down	the instance has been shut down due to expiration
shutdown due to refund	instances of some products support a retention period after cancellation; during this period, resources can only be restored through manual renewal.

Renewal restrictions explanation

On-demand resources, spot instances, diminishing resource packages, one-time resources, and reserved block storage capacity packages do not support renewal.

Resources undergoing changes (such as being reconfigured, renewing, or unsubscribing) are not allowed to renew.

Released resources do not support renewal.

Discontinued products do not support renewal.

Detailed renewal illustration (using annual/monthly cloud resources as an example)

Lifecycle of annual/monthly cloud resource instances: manual renewal is available before the instance expires or is unsubscribed and reclaimed.

Automatic renewal of annual/monthly cloud resource instances: by default, automatic renewal triggers at 00:00 seven days before expiration (the automatic renewal payment date can be customized). If automatic renewal fails, it retries every six hours until successful or the instance is eventually released.

Explanation of expiration-related notifications

Expiration warning: By default, SMS, email, and in-app notifications are sent 7, 3, 1 days before and on the day of instance expiration, with at least one voice notification sent 3 days prior (voice notifications may increase based on past usage). You can set recipients and channels for the "Product Expiration Warning" in the Message Center.

Expiration shutdown notice: After instance expiration shutdown, voice, SMS, email, and in-app notifications are sent by default. You can set recipients and channels for the "Product Shutdown Reminder" in the Message Center.

Pre-expiration recovery warning: One day before instance recovery, SMS, email, and in-app notifications are sent by default. You can also subscribe to voice notifications. Set recipients and channels for the "Product Release Notice" in the Message Center.

Expiration recovery notice: After instance recovery, SMS, email, and in-app notifications are sent by default. You can also subscribe to voice notifications. Set recipients and channels for the "Product Release Notice" in the Message Center.

All messages support sending through a custom Feishu bot to Feishu. Configure this in the Message Center.
