What is Container Registry
Container Registry (CR) provides secure and highly available hosting services for OCI-compliant cloud-native artifacts such as container images and Helm charts, making it easier for enterprise users to manage the full lifecycle of container images and Helm charts.
Product types
CR provides multiple types of CR instances. You can create instances based on your actual needs.
- Standard Edition instance: Provides capabilities such as dedicated data storage, a dedicated registry service, access control, image acceleration, and OCI artifact management, and is suitable for scenarios requiring secure hosting and large-scale distribution.
- Micro Edition instance: Provides basic image hosting capabilities for small and micro enterprises and individual developers.
- Proxy cache registry: Proxies external image sources such as Docker Hub, GHCR, and self-hosted Docker registries, caches commonly used images locally, and enables accelerated pulls and stable access, effectively addressing slow and unstable access to image sources outside the Chinese mainland.
Features
- Full lifecycle management
- Supports full lifecycle management of images, including image pushes, pulls, and cleanup.
- Multi-dimensional security protection
- Supports security scanning of hosted images and generates multi-dimensional security scan reports and corresponding remediation suggestions to help ensure business security.
- Fast multi-region distribution
- Supports pulling images from the nearest location and synchronizing container images and Helm charts between different instances in various regions, enabling single-point pushes and automatic global synchronization and distribution. It also supports large-scale cluster pulls based on P2P.
- Fine-grained authorization management
- Supports setting IAM policies for authorization management of users, differentiating resource control permissions at the user dimension.
- Proxy cache acceleration
- By proxying external image sources such as Docker Hub and GHCR, CR enables image caching and accelerated pulls, reducing reliance on networks outside the Chinese mainland.
