Downloading packages is one of the fundamental functions of an artifact repository, enabling you to download packages from the artifact repository to your local environment. This section explains how to download packages from the artifact repository to your local environment using the command line.
tip
Since Python 2.7 is no longer maintained, the configuration methods described in this document use Python 3.x as an example.
Prerequisites
- Have registered a Volcano Engine root user and activated the artifact repository Service.
- A repository instance has been created. For details, refer to Creating basic edition instances.
- A PyPI-format artifact repository has been created. For details, please refer to Creating PyPI repositories.
- Python and pip have been installed in your local environment.
- The target package already exists in the artifact repository.
Procedure
Step 1: Configure the local pip source
tip
- In Linux systems, the pip.conf configuration file is typically located in the user's root directory, i.e., ~/.pip/pip.conf.
- If this directory does not exist in your environment, you can create it using the mkdir.pip command in the root directory.
- Log in to your local environment (MAC/Linux) and execute the following command to configure the pip.conf file.
- Add the repository information of the artifact repository to the pip.conf file.
Step 2: Download packages
- Log in to your local environment (MAC/Linux) and execute the following command to download packages.
tip
You can also temporarily download packages from the artifact repository without configuring the local pip source. The download command is pip install --trusted-host {domain} -i https://{username}:{password}@{repository-url}<package name>
