Getting Started Guide for Administrators

1. Add users

When using the product for the first time, the account you receive is the system administrator account for this system. The system administrator can add more users by following the steps below.

1.1 SaaS

As the system administrator, when you are trying out or using this product for the first time, by default, you log in using the username and password registered with BytePlus.
First, you can click the avatar in the upper right corner of the product interface to access "Management Center", then, under "user management", create a new user. The detailed steps are as follows:
First, add a sub-account: Click the avatar in the upper right corner, then click Management Center to create a new user. For example, you can create a user named "demo-test" here. Caution: The sub-account created here is essentially a user created in the BytePlus console.

Next, go to the "Project Center" of DataWind, and add the sub-account you just created under "User Management". Caution: Adding a user in "User Management" under "Project Center" essentially means searching for and adding the user you created in the first step, and then assigning permissions to that user. Essentially, this is selecting the user you just created in the BytePlus console.

Second, as the system administrator, you have the primary account for the entire system. To delegate permissions to others and allow a specified sub-user to add more new sub-accounts and perform management operations, go to "Management Center" > "Policy Management", search for "Management Center (IAM) Full Management Permissions", and then click Manage. As shown in the figure below:

After entering the "Manage" interface, click "Add Authorization", select the specified user, and click OK to grant this user global management permissions. In other words, this user can act on behalf of the system administrator to add sub-users to the system and perform additional global management operations. As shown in the following figure:

1.2 Private deployment

The system account is obtained through the BytePlus contact. After that, you can go to the BytePlus console, click "User Management," and start adding users.

2. Add a system administrator

Cannot be added; by default, there is only one system administrator. To delegate permissions to others and allow a designated sub-user to add more new sub-accounts and perform management operations, go to "Management Center" > "Policy Management," search for "Management Center (IAM) Full Management Permission," then click Manage to grant authorization to a specified user. For detailed steps, see section 1.1.

3. Add a project administrator

5. Add a resource administrator

A resource administrator is a logical role dedicated to managing resources (datasets, dashboards, visual modeling), including editing, deleting, granting permissions, and more. Authorization can be performed in Project Center > Permission Management/Resource Permissions, or within the details page of each resource. The user who creates a resource is, by default, the administrator of that resource.

7. Enable data row and column permissions
  • Data row and column permissions must be set on datasets. Therefore, the following instructions are all performed at the dataset level.
  • Data row and column permissions are actively granted by the project administrator or resource administrator.
  • Operation method: On the row and column permission rule configuration page, grant permissions to any member or user group within the project.
