Because visual queries operate on the actual visible fields, after completing Custom SQL and Model Configuration, it may be necessary to add complex calculated fields or perform other configurations at the dataset level.
After clicking Modify Fields, you enter the modification page.
The difference between data source fields and dataset fields can be simply understood as follows. For a detailed explanation, see Data source fields and dataset fields.
- Data source fields are fields that are actually stored in tables or imported.
- Dataset fields are logical fields that have been processed or modified from the original fields.
For a detailed introduction to this feature, see:
Supports flexible switching between data source order and the rule of placing dimensions before measures.
If a field is an aggregate function, aggregation is displayed. If the aggregation method can be modified, use the drop-down box to change it. The drop-down box contains the available aggregation methods. After modification, the field name is updated accordingly.
If there are non-aggregated measures among the selected measures, when you click Batch Set Aggregation Method, a settings panel appears below. The default aggregation method is empty (not selected). After confirming, the aggregation method for non-aggregated measures among the selected measures will be modified and synchronized to the field name.
For chart types that support visual style configuration, after selecting multiple fields, you can click Batch Set Visual Style to configure them.
After selecting multiple fields, if none of the selected items are restricted from being shown or hidden, you can click Batch Set Display Fields. After clicking, a settings panel appears below. The default aggregation method is empty (not selected), and you can use the dropdown to choose whether to show or hide the panel. After confirming, the hidden field status of multi-select fields will be updated synchronously.
Supports categorizing fields, making them easier to retrieve during visual queries.
Click "Manage" to add categories. After adding a category, you can select it in the category column of the field.
In category management, you can set categories to be collapsed or expanded by default, which affects how dimensions and metrics with categories are displayed in Visual Query.
Supports adding and modifying field descriptions to help users understand the fields. After enabling the custom button, field descriptions can be customized by users. When the custom button is disabled, field descriptions are synchronized with upstream table fields, making it easier for users to manage the synchronization of field descriptions for multiple downstream datasets of the same data table.
When a field is modified and there are downstream fields that depend on it, the system allows users to synchronize and modify downstream fields with one click, or to manually modify erroneous fields as prompted, ensuring data consistency and efficient updates.
When configuring chart dataset replacement, you need to configure the mapping relationship for each data source field. If the current chart contains many fields and chart dataset replacement is performed frequently, configuring field mappings one by one for each dataset replacement can be very cumbersome and incurs a high operational cost.
Matching configuration fields one by one each time the dataset is replaced is very cumbersome, and the operational cost is relatively high.
To this end, a field mapping configuration is provided, which allows you to pre-configure mapping relationships between fields of datasets. When you perform chart dataset replacement operations on datasets with configured mappings, the matching relationships will be automatically populated according to the mapping configuration, reducing operational costs.
Step 1: The configuration entry is located on the dataset details page. In the options at the top right corner, you can find "Field Mapping Configuration".
Step 2: First, add the target dataset for which you need to configure the mapping relationship.
Step 3: Configure the mapping relationships between fields in the two datasets. Both data source matching and dataset matching are supported. You can refer to Replace Dataset for the matching effect.
Step 4: Finally, click Save to complete the configuration.
Step 5: After the field mapping configuration is completed, when you replace the dataset used by the current chart with the target dataset, the mapped fields will be automatically populated in the matching relationships.
