This article will help you understand the general field configuration. For specific configuration of dimensions and measures, see dimension field configuration and measure field configuration.
In the visual query module of Intelligent Data Insight, fields are categorized into two concepts: "dimension" and "measure". Text or time data is recognized as dimension fields by default, while numeric data is recognized as measure fields by default. In actual use, dimension and measure fields can be converted from one to the other. A field is a concept used to describe and store data.
After selecting the dimension and measure fields to query, users can click a specific field for further configuration. Intelligent Data Insight supports a wide range of field configuration options. For example, you can modify the display name for all fields, set the date type for date fields, change the aggregation method for measure fields, and adjust the data format for numeric fields.
You can edit the information of a configured dimension or measure field individually.
You can adjust the format and information of configured dimension or measure fields in batches.
The display name of a field defaults to the field name. To modify, click "Configure field information". Additionally, you can add remarks to a field to help viewers understand the field definition.
Enter the new name you want, and click "OK" to apply the change. For example, change the "Order Date" field to "Date". To restore the default, click "Restore Default" in the lower left corner and then click "OK" to revert.
Check "Display field description", enter the description, and confirm to add a description to the field. After modification, an underline appears under the field in the chart, and hovering the mouse over the field displays the description.
For details, see Dimension Field Configuration.
For details, see Metric Field Configuration.
Fields support parsing content in specific formats.

Conditional format allows you to mark cells with colors or icons, making important or abnormal data more prominent. Supports four types of conditional format for tables: single color, icon set, color scale, and data bar. You can click "Clear Rules" to remove all conditional formats currently set for the field.
warning
Example:
Conditional format | Example effects |
|---|---|
Single color | When "City" contains "Beijing", the font color of the corresponding cell is red and the background color is white. |
Icon set | When the profit value is >4000, =4000, or <4000, different icons and text are displayed. |
Color scale | Set a color scale for profit. |
Data bar | Set a data bar for profit. |
Clear rules | Clear all conditional formats currently set for this field. |
Single color: The single color feature allows you to set the text and background color of cells that meet conditions separately. You can add multiple conditions and rules to meet more business needs.
Parameters | Configuration instructions |
|---|---|
Add rule | Each rule includes conditions, scope of application, and color settings. For example: Rule 1—When the city contains "Beijing", the font color of the corresponding cell is red and the background color is white. |
Add condition | The relationship between conditions is "AND". Each condition includes a field, operator, and value. For example: Condition 1—City contains "Beijing". |

Icon set: Icon sets provide a more intuitive way to categorize and display data. Data is divided into several major categories based on thresholds, and data in the same category is displayed with the same icon set.
Parameters | Configuration instructions |
|---|---|
Based on field | This refers to the field on which the condition is based. The selectable range includes measure fields dragged into the chart. warning When configuring an icon set for a metric field, this parameter is not available; the icon set conditions are set directly based on the selected metric field. |
Display content |
|
Position settings |
warning This parameter can only be set when the display content is "icon + text". |
Icon style | Select the icon style. |
Condition settings | Includes operator, comparison content (which can be a fixed value, another field, or a calculated value), and the icon style to display. warning If rules conflict, only the earlier rule takes effect. |
Display for null values | Select the icon to display for null values, and you can also edit the icon color. |
Text color | You can choose to follow the icon color or customize the text color. |
Apply to totals | Apply to the "Total" row in the chart. Selected by default. For details on the total functionality, see Total. |
Color scale: Color scales help users better understand the distribution of data. The larger the value, the closer the cell color is to the color corresponding to the maximum value; the smaller the value, the closer the cell color is to the color corresponding to the minimum value.
Parameters | Configuration instructions |
|---|---|
Basis field | This refers to the field on which the condition is set. The selection range includes metric fields dragged into the chart. warning When configuring an icon set for a metric field, this parameter is not available; the icon set conditions are set directly based on the selected metric field. |
Color scale selection |
|
Gradient color | Click the color scale card to select from system preset gradient colors. Color inversion is also supported, which swaps the colors for the maximum and minimum values. |
Value settings | Automatic by default. For scenarios with outliers or where a customized color scale is needed, users can manually configure the maximum and minimum values.
|
Null value color |
|
Text color | Automatic or custom color can be selected. Automatic is the default, and field content is displayed in black. |
Apply to total | Apply to the "Total" row in the chart. Selected by default. For details on the total functionality, see Total. |
Data bars: Data bars help users identify larger or smaller values. The longer the data bar, the larger the value; the shorter the data bar, the smaller the value.
Parameters | Configuration instructions |

Basis field | This refers to the field on which the condition is set. The selection range includes metric fields dragged into the chart. warning When configuring an icon set for a metric field, this parameter is not available; the icon set conditions are set directly based on the selected metric field. |

|
Data bar color | Can set different colors for positive and negative values. |
Axis color | Can set the axis line color separately. |
Value settings | Automatic by default, but for scenarios with outliers or when customized data bars are needed, users can configure the minimum and maximum values themselves.

Apply to total | Whether to apply to the "Total" row in the chart. Selected by default. For details on the total function, see Total. |
To enrich the display style of the table, you can configure the header text, header background color, body text, and alternating row text in the table body.
warning
Supported chart types: Table, detail table.
Feature module | Feature introduction | Implementation effect |
|---|---|---|
Table header text | You can set the font size, bold, italic, underline, and color of the table header text. | |
Table header background color | You can change the table header background color. | |
Table body text | You can set the font size, bold, italic, underline, and color of the actual data text in the table body. | |
Table body alternating row color | You can set the background color for alternating rows of actual data in the table body. | |
Restore default | One-click reset: Table header and table settings are restored to default. |
You can hide columns or fields that are needed by the chart but not displayed, in order to avoid displaying redundant information.
warning
Supported chart types: Any field in a table or detail table can be hidden, and indicator fields in pivot tables or other charts can be hidden.
You can batch configure dimension and metric fields to reduce the effort required for configuration.
warning
Supports batch configuration of dimension and indicator fields; filtering is not supported.
(1) Question: What is p_date?
Answer: p_date is the partition date field of the dataset. It is supported in extraction mode for dataset usage, but not available in direct connection mode. p_date represents the date when data is synchronized to the product dataset (if the upstream data does not have a date partition), or the date when data is generated in the upstream data table (the original date/p_date partition fields in the Hive table will both be renamed to p_date). In visual queries, it can be used to select and filter by date dimension according to analysis needs. By default, it is set to the most recent day with data.
(2) Question: Why is the field gray?
Answer: When the mouse hovers over the gray field label in the field configuration area, a prompt will display the reason why the field is gray.
