Total refers to the overall total or sum, which is the aggregate of a set of values. The product provides a total analysis component that supports summing the values of specified areas in a chart.
Example
Step 1: At the top, select "In-chart total item", modify the display name (default is Total); for display position, select a single option (default is Top); for calculation basis, select a single option (default is All data).
Step 2: In the table, you can set different calculation methods for different columns; set Calculation Card 1, select Sum as the calculation method, and select Revenue as the calculation metric.
Step 3: Add a calculation card, select Average as the calculation method for Calculation Card 2, and select Expenditure as the calculation metric.
Step 4: Click Apply.
Step 1: Pivot table total supports both grand totals and subtotals for rows and columns. At the top, select "In-chart total item".
Step 2: Check Column Total, Column Subtotal, Row Total, and Row Subtotal, and select Sum as the total method.
Step 3: Click Apply.
To enable users to quickly understand the overall status of certain summary data at a glance, in addition to detailed data analysis, the product supports quick presentation of summary results, for example:
Modify the display name. This applies to the name of the newly added total row.
Modify the display position. You can set the total result to display at the top or bottom.
You can set the calculation basis to all data or currently displayed data.
Calculation method: Six calculation methods are supported, with sum as the default.
Calculation metrics: You can select all metrics or a specific calculation metric. If you select all metrics, you cannot select an individual metric, and the calculation method will apply to all metrics. When selecting specific metrics, multiple selections are supported.
If you select specific metrics, you can continue to add calculation cards.
You can set different calculation methods for different calculation metrics, and each metric can only correspond to one calculation method.
Modify the display name. The new name will apply to newly added aggregation items.
You can set the total for entire columns or rows.
Set subtotals for columns or rows, and you can specify the dimension used for subtotal calculation.
You can set the position of newly added aggregation items.
Modify the display name. The new name will apply to newly added aggregation items.
Modify the display position. You can set the aggregation result to be shown at the top or bottom.
You can set the calculation basis to either all data or currently displayed data.
You can choose from multiple calculation methods. The default is sum.
Calculation is performed based on unaggregated raw data, rather than aggregated data. As shown in the figure, the expression for the average product price is sum([价格])/count([产品id]), which calculates "the sum of product prices across all provinces divided by the total number of product IDs (that is, the product quantity)", meaning the table's detailed data is calculated according to the field expression to obtain the national average product price.
In this case, it is distinguished from "average value". The calculation logic for "Automatic" is total price divided by total number of products, while "Average" is the mean of ("total price for each province" divided by "number of products for each province") across all provinces. You can choose different calculation methods depending on your calculation requirements.
There is a fundamental difference between "Automatic" and "Sum". "Automatic" is calculated based on the field expression of the metric, whereas "Sum" calculates the total for the corresponding metric. As shown in the figure below, summing the "average price" metric yields the sum of the average prices for each province, rather than the "total price divided by total number of products" obtained by "Automatic".
