DataWind dashboards support two publishing modes: real-time publishing and version publishing. The default is real-time publishing. For users who require version management, it is also possible to switch to version publishing mode. This article introduces the dashboard version management feature.
Feature overview
DataWind dashboards support version management. After enabling version management, saving a dashboard is divided into two steps: "Save" and "Publish". Each save creates a historical version, with up to three versions supported. Saved versions can be rolled back.
warning
The version publishing feature is enabled at the project level and, once enabled, cannot be reverted to real-time publishing.
Applicable scenarios:
- To control dashboard publishing and prevent incidents caused by accidentally saving and publishing incomplete changes online
- To prevent unintended operations, for example, if a chart is accidentally deleted and the dashboard is saved, making it impossible to recover
Quick start
Enable the version publishing feature
- Go to the "Project Center" - "Project Information" page and locate the "Dashboard Publishing Type" option.

- Select "Version Publishing" and confirm to enable the version publishing feature.
warning
After switching the publishing type to "Version publishing", it cannot be switched back to "Real-time publishing".
Dashboard publishing and rollback
Dashboard saving and publishing
- After modifying the dashboard content, click the "Save" button in the upper right corner to save the current changes.
- This save will not affect the live version.
- After saving and exiting the editing page, re-entering the dashboard editing page will display the last saved content.

- When the dashboard changes are confirmed to be correct and ready to be published, click "Save and Publish" in the upper right corner.

- You can optionally enter a version description. A maximum of three historical versions can be saved for the dashboard. When there are already three historical versions, you can choose to delete a specific version during publishing.

- After entering the version description, click Confirm to publish the current dashboard content. The dashboard content will then be published online.

Dashboard rollback
- Go to the dashboard editing page and click "Version history" at the top.

- In the pop-up window, the three most recent dashboard versions are displayed. The version with the status "Published" is the current live version.
- You can click the "Preview" button next to a version to view the dashboard content for that version.
- After confirming which historical version to roll back to, click "Rollback" to revert to the corresponding version.
- After confirming that the dashboard content is correct, click "Save and publish" to publish it online.

Feature overview
Version description
When publishing a dashboard, you can enter a version description.
The version description can be edited by clicking it in the version history.
Dashboard preview and sharing
The dashboard preview page supports sharing links, allowing other users to view the preview page content via the link.
Applicable scenario: After editing the dashboard, the user needs to provide the current content to others for review before saving.
Steps: Click the expand button next to "Preview" and select "Copy preview link". Other users can then view the preview content using this link.

Dashboard editing cache
- When operating in the dashboard editing interface, the current dashboard editing content is cached locally in the browser every minute.
- If an abnormal exit occurs, such as a browser crash, a pop-up reminder will appear when re-entering the dashboard editing interface, allowing you to restore the editor content from the cache.
Impact on each feature:
When the version publishing feature is enabled, if the current dashboard changes are only saved but not published, the live version and the latest saved version may differ, which affects each feature accordingly.
