Collect DBW logs
This topic describes the features and limitations related to collecting DBW logs.
Features overview
Database Workshop (DBW) is a unified cloud management platform designed for multi-type database lifecycle management. The DBW instance list(new edition) provides centralized management for database instances including Cloud Database MySQL, Cloud Database veDB MySQL, Cache Database Redis, Document Database MongoDB, Cloud Database PostgreSQL, and Cloud Database SQL Server.
TLS supports delivering audit logs, error logs, and slow query logs from database instances in the same region to TLS for storage and analysis. The supported instances are as follows:

DBW log analysis feature configuration is as follows:

Configuration
Description
Log type
DBW audit logs, slow query logs, and error logs.
Log storage location
After enabling DBW log collection, a dedicated DBW log project and log topic will be automatically created in the current region. For details, see Manage DBW log resources.
  • Dedicated log project: rds-project-<accountID>-<regionID>
  • Dedicated log topic:
  • Audit log: audit_log
  • Slow log: slow_log
  • Error log: error_log
Notice
If you use the V1 version of audit logs, enabling audit logs in the DBW console automatically creates a dedicated audit log topic under a project available in TLS. If no project is available, one project will be automatically created.
  • Audit log project: dbw-sql-audit-xxx
  • Audit log topic: Database instance ID xxx
  • Log retention period: 30 days by default.
  • Log shards: Four shards are preset and their auto split feature is enabled by default.
Log retention period
  • The default retention period for audit logs is 30 days.
  • The default retention period for slow logs and error logs is 180 days.
Log shards
  • Eight shards are preset.
  • Auto split is enabled by default. When write traffic increases, TLS automatically splits shards to meet data writing needs.
Index settings
Indexes have been configured for all fields.
Log fields
For a detailed list of log fields, see DBW log field.

Collect DBW logs
Enable DBW audit log collection
  1. Create a DBW instance.
  • For steps to create a DBW database instance, usage restrictions, prerequisites, and more, see Instance list management.
  1. Enable audit log collection.
  • Log in to the DBW console and activate the database audit feature. For details, refer to the following link. Or, you can proceed to the next step. In the TLS console, follow the on-screen instructions to jump directly to the database audit page for the corresponding instance and manually enable the database audit feature.
  1. Enable log collection.
  1. Log in to TLS console.
  1. Select the region where log service is located from the top navigation bar.
  1. On the left navigation bar, select Common functions > Log collection.
  1. On the Collection of cloud service logs tab, click DBW database log to enter the DBW instance list page.
  1. In the Audit log column of the corresponding instance, click Open.
  1. After confirming the log storage region, project, and log topic, and setting the retention period, click OK.
Notice
If you have not enabled the log audit feature in the DBW Console, after clicking OK, follow the instructions on the screen and click Go to enable to go to the database audit page for the instance in the DBW Console and manually enable log audit.
  • Storage region: Database instance region
  • Project: rds-project-<accountID>-<regionID>
  • Log topic: audit_log
  • Retention period: 30 days by default
Enable DBW error log collection
  1. Create a DBW instance.
  • For steps to create a DBW database instance, usage restrictions, prerequisites, and more, see Instance list management.
  1. In the error log column of the corresponding instance, select Open.
  1. After confirming the log storage region, project, and log topic, and setting the retention period, click OK.
  • Storage region: Database instance region
  • Project: rds-project-<accountID>-<regionID>
  • Log topic: error_log
  • Retention period: 180 days by default
Enable DBW slow query log collection
  1. Create a DBW instance.
  • For steps to create a DBW database instance, usage restrictions, prerequisites, and more, see Instance list management.
  1. In the Slow query log column for the corresponding instance, click Open.
  1. After confirming the log storage region, project, and log topic, and setting the retention period, click OK.
  • Storage region: Database instance region
  • Project: rds-project-<accountID>-<regionID>
  • Log topic: slow_log
  • Retention period: 180 days by default
