Billing overview
All TOS cost components, or billable items, are billed separately. For example, storing files incurs a storage fee. File reads and writes are charged based on the number of requests. Accessing TOS files from the internet also incurs a data transfer fee. This topic covers the billing details of TOS.
Billing cycle
Unless otherwise specified, TOS generates a bill by usage per hour for all billable items. Some billable items, such as image processing, are charged monthly. Refer to the corresponding billing documentation for details.
Billing method
TOS supports the following billing methods:
  • Pay-as-you-go: A postpaid billing method where you use the service first and then pay for it. Specifically, bills are calculated by multiplying usage by the unit price. Then, you can pay the bill. For more information, see Pay-as-you-go.
  • Resource packages: A special offer for TOS users. These packages can be used to cover storage fees regardless of what files you store. For more information, see Resource packages overview.
Cost components

Billable item
Description
You pay for storing files in TOS.
You pay for traffic to and from TOS. This includes outbound traffic over the public network, CDN back-to-origin traffic, and cross-region replication traffic.
You can access TOS through the console, SDKs, APIs, or clients. Regardless of the method used, TOS APIs are called to perform operations, which incurs request costs.
You pay for retrieving data from Infrequent Access Storage, Flashback Archive or other storage tiers.
You pay to use features such as image processing and advanced image compression.
After you restore an object from Archive, Cold Archive, or Deep Cold Archive, TOS creates a temporary copy of the object in Standard Storage, so you can access it. This copy will be deleted automatically at the end of its specified validity period. During this period, a temporary storage fee will be incurred.
You pay to use Storage Lens with advanced metrics.
You pay to use burst bandwidth.
You pay for using the transfer acceleration feature.
You pay to use TOS accelerator.

Examples
warning
The examples in this chapter are for reference purposes only. For the latest prices, please refer to the console.
Example 1: Using Standard Storage with CDN acceleration disabled
Company A, a media enterprise, stores a large number of image files in the TOS China (Beijing) region. Its Standard Storage has a total capacity of 200 GiB. With CDN acceleration disabled, the outbound traffic for downloading images from the internet is 10 GB per month, which generates approximately 20,000 requests per month. Company A's monthly bill is as follows:

Cost breakdown
Description
Storage
  • Hourly cost: 200 GiB × ¥0.099/GiB/month ÷ 30 days ÷ 24 hours = ¥0.0275
  • Monthly cost: 200 GiB × ¥0.099/GiB/month = ¥19.8
Outbound traffic over the public network
10 GB × ¥0.5/GB = ¥5
Requests
20,000 × ¥0.01/10,000 requests = ¥0.02
Total monthly cost
Storage costs + Costs for outbound traffic over the public network + Charges for requests = ¥19.8 + ¥5 + ¥0.02 = ¥24.82

Example 2: Using Standard Storage with CDN acceleration enabled
Company B, a video company, stores a large number of video files in the TOS China (Beijing) region. Its Standard Storage has a total capacity of 2 TiB. With CDN acceleration enabled for downloads and access, the CDN back-to-origin traffic amounts to 10 GB per month and generates approximately 100,000 monthly requests. Company B's monthly bill is as follows:

Cost breakdown
Description
Storage
  • Hourly cost: 2 TiB × 1,024 GiB/TiB × ¥0.099/GiB/month ÷ 30 days ÷ 24 hours = ¥0.2816
  • Monthly cost: 2 TiB × 1,024 GiB/TiB × ¥0.099/GiB/month = ¥202.752
CDN back-to-origin traffic
10 GB × ¥0.15/GB = ¥1.5
Requests
100,000 × ¥0.01/10,000 requests = ¥0.1
Total monthly cost
Storage costs + Costs for CDN back-to-origin traffic + Charges for requests = ¥202.752 + ¥1.5 + ¥0.1 = ¥204.352

FAQ
How do I disable TOS?
To avoid any unexpected impact on your business, TOS does not provide a direct way to disable the service. If you no longer need TOS, delete all data stored in it. Once all data has been deleted, TOS will stop billing. For more information, see How do I disable TOS or stop billing?
