Object Storage SetObjectMeta API Object Expiration Time Feature Deprecation Notice
To provide you with higher-quality services, the Volcengine Object Storage product is expected to discontinue the functionality for modifying object expiration time via the SetObjectMeta API on October 15, 2025. Please use the new dedicated SetObjectExpires API as a replacement.
Estimated change time
October 15, 2025. The actual change time is subject to the console.
Change description
Changes before and after modification
  • Before the change: Modify the object expiration time using the SetObjectMeta interface's x-tos-object-expires parameter.
  • After the change: Use the SetObjectExpires interface to modify the object's expiration time.
This change only deprecates the functionality for setting object expiration time in the SetObjectMeta interface; other metadata setting features of the interface (such as Content-Type, Cache-Control, etc.) are not affected. The ability to set object expiration time during upload via interfaces such as PutObject is also unaffected. For details, refer to Setting Object Expiration Time.
Specific impact
  • For existing objects: The expiration time successfully set via the SetObjectMeta interface before the change will not be affected, and the relevant objects will be automatically deleted at the preset time.
  • For new users and new development: We strongly recommend that you directly use the SetObjectExpires API starting today to set the expiration time for objects.
  • For existing business: If your application calls the SetObjectMeta API to set or update the expiration time of objects, please ensure that the API migration is completed before October 15, 2025. If you continue to use SetObjectMeta to set or update the expiration time of an object after the change, the request will fail and return the following error message.
