Renaming objects
This topic outlines the notes and steps for renaming objects in the TOS console.
- To rename an object, first toggle off the Show versions switch in the upper-right corner of the Objects page, if applicable.
- If you have enabled versioning for your bucket, renaming an object will not permanently delete the original, but instead add a deletion mark.
- Renaming an object updates its modification time.
- If the object is stored in Infrequent Access Storage, Flashback Archive, Archive, Cold Archive or Deep Cold Archive and the minimum storage duration requirement has not been met, you will incur additional storage costs. For billing details, see Storage.
- If the object you want to rename is stored in Archive, Cold Archive, or Deep Cold Archive, restore it first. For more information, see Restoring objects.
Steps
- In the left navigation pane, click Buckets.
- In the top menu bar, select the project of the bucket you want to manage.
- On the Buckets page, click the name of the bucket.
- On the Objects page, hover over the object you want to rename, and click the
icon that appears.
- In the box that appears, enter the new filename and click Select.
tip
If the original filename has a suffix, keep it in the new filename.
