Supported tools (HNS buckets)
This topic mainly introduces tool support for hierarchical namespace.
Background information
This topic only covers tools that support HNS buckets. For information about features supported by other access methods, see the following documents.
Notes
The symbols used in the table are described as follows:
  • ✅: Supported.
  • ✔️: Partially supported (see remarks for details).
  • ❌: Not supported.

Remarks
tosutil is a command-line tool used to access and manage TOS. This tool allows you to perform batch data processing between local storage and TOS. You can use it to upload and download small- to medium-sized data to and from the cloud, as well as integrate automated scripting tasks.
✔️
tosutil version 4.0.0 and later supports HNS buckets. For more information on tosutil features, see tosutil overview.
TOS Browser is a graphical user interface (GUI) tool designed for TOS. You can use this tool to manage buckets and objects.
✔️
It is currently not possible to create HNS buckets using TOS Browser.
TOS Import is a command-line tool designed for data migration. You can deploy it on local or cloud servers to transfer local files, URL lists, or object storage files that are compatible with the S3 protocol to TOS.
❌
-
S3-compatible tools
Any tool that is compatible with the AWS S3 protocol and allows you to manage resources within TOS buckets.
❌
  • Supported features:
  • Object upload or download APIs that are compatible with the S3 protocol
  • Multipart upload APIs.
  • ACL permission management for directories and objects.
  • Lifecycle management.
  • Object listing (flat and hierarchical listing). For the hierarchical listing, use / as the only delimiter.
  • Unsupported features:
  • Deleting non-empty directories via API.
  • Including directories in batch deletion API requests.
  • HNS buckets strictly manage metadata "hierarchically", distinguishing between directory and file entities. In contrast, the S3 protocol manages metadata in a "flat" manner, treating objects as the only entity. These two management methods produce different results. For example, simulating a directory hierarchy with object keys is different from an actual directory hierarchy system. Behaviors such as deleting directories and listing subdirectories and files also differ between the two bucket types. If you are using third-party, S3-compatible tools, consult technical support first.
DMS
Data Migration Service (DMS) is an online tool that helps you:
  • Migrate data from the object storage solutions of other cloud providers to TOS.
  • Migrate data between TOS buckets.
✔️
You can only migrate from FNS buckets to HNS buckets, not the other way around.
