Creating folders
You can use the folder feature to organize your TOS objects. This topic describes how folders work and how to create a folder.
Background information
TOS stores objects in a flat structure that does not incorporate the concept of folders. To help you better organize your objects, TOS displays objects ending in a forward slash (/) as folders by default. Such a folder is essentially a 0 KiB file with the characteristics of a regular object. It can be uploaded and downloaded. You can also operate it as a folder in the TOS console.
Prerequisites
Before creating a folder, make sure you have created a bucket.
Steps
  1. Log in to the TOS console.
  1. In the left navigation pane, click Buckets.
  1. In the top menu bar, select the project of the bucket you want to manage.
  1. On the Buckets page, click the name of the bucket.
  1. On the Objects page, click Create folder.
  1. In the box that appears, enter the folder name and click Create.
tip
Follow these guidelines when naming a folder:
  • Folder names can contain Chinese characters, letters, numbers, and common symbols.
  • You can use forward slashes (/) to quickly create subfolders. However, the folder name cannot start with a forward slash (/) or backslash (\) and cannot contain consecutive forward slashes (/).
  • .. cannot be used as a directory name.
  • Folder names must be unique in the same bucket.
