Measure network latency (ping)
You can use the ping command to test the network connectivity between your host and TOS and measure network latency.
Command syntax

Linux/macOS
Windows

  • Ping a domain name

./tosutil ping domain [-s=1] [-t=1] [-count=1] [-ipv6]

  • Ping an IP address

./tosutil ping ipaddress [-s=1] [-t=1] [-count=1] [-ipv6]

Parameters

Parameter
Type
Description
domain
String
The domain name of the host you want to check. For more information on TOS regions and endpoints, see Regions and endpoints.
ipaddress
String
The IP address of the host you want to check.
-s
String
The packet size for the ping command, in bytes. The value can range from 1 byte to 63 KB, with a default value of 56 bytes.
-t
String
The maximum execution time for the ping command, in seconds.
-count
String
The number of ping packages to be sent or received.
-ipv6
String
Resolve domain names to IPv6 addresses.

Examples
Ping a domain name
Use the following command to test the network connectivity between your host and the TOS Beijing region with 5 packets.
  • Command

./tosutil ping tos-cn-beijing.ivolces.com -count=5

  • Output

PING tos-cn-beijing.ivolces.com (100.64.153.11): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=0 time=0 ms
64 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=1 time=0 ms
64 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=2 time=0 ms
64 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=3 time=0 ms
64 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=4 time=0 ms

--- tos-cn-beijing.ivolces.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0/0/0/0 ms

Ping an IP address
Use the following command to test the network connectivity between your host and 100.64.**.** with a packet size of 100 bytes.
  • Command

./tosutil ping 100.64.**.** -s=100 -count=5

  • Output

PING 100.64.**.** (100.64.**.**): 100 data bytes
108 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=0 time=0 ms
108 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=1 time=0 ms
108 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=2 time=0 ms
108 bytes from 100.64.**.**: icmp_seq=3 time=0 ms
