Switching a volume from pay-as-you-go to subscription
EBS volumes support two billing methods: pay-as-you-go and subscription. You can change the billing method based on your business needs. This topic explains how to change the billing method of a data volume from pay-as-you-go to subscription.
Prerequisites
  • The pay‑as‑you‑go data volume that you want to change must be attached to a subscription ECS instance. The instance must be running and not expired.
  • Your Volcano Engine account must not have an outstanding balance.
Notes
You can only change a pay-as-you-go system volume's billing method from pay-as-you-go to subscription if you also change the ECS instance to which the volume is attached. For more information, see Changing billing method from Pay-as-you-go to Subscription.
Steps
  1. Log in to the ECS console.
  1. In the left navigation pane, click "Volumes".
  1. In the top menu bar, select the project and region where the volume resides.
  1. On the "Volumes" page, perform the following steps as needed:
  • To switch a single volume, locate the pay‑as‑you‑go volume you want to manage, and click "··· > Switch to Subscription" in the "Actions" column.
  • To switch multiple volumes in a batch, select the pay‑as‑you‑go volumes you want to manage, and click "... > Switch to Subscription" at the bottom of the page.
warning
  • Batch switching is only possible for pay-as-you-go volumes attached to the same subscription instance.
  • If you select volumes with mixed billing types or from different instances, the batch operation will not succeed.
  1. After verifying the volume information, read the "Elastic Compute Service Terms of Service" and check the box next to it. Then, click "Submit".
tip
  • When switching multiple volumes in a batch, if you want to cancel switching for a specific volume, click "Remove > OK" next to that volume on the information confirmation page.
  • You cannot remove all volumes on the information confirmation page.
  1. In the "Confirm order information" wizard, verify the volume information and order amount, and click "Next step".
  1. In the "Submit payment information" wizard, select the payment method, and click "Pay".
warning
  • You cannot switch to the subscription model if your account is in arrears. Pay your bill and try again.
  • After making a payment, click "Go to console" to see if the change to the billing method for the volume was successful.
  • When a pay-as-you-go volume is switched to a subscription model, the expiration date of the volume aligns with the expiration date of the instance to which it is attached.
