Changing instance type
If the instance type deployed on a DDH fails to meet or exceeds your application requirements, you can change the instance type (including vCPU and memory). Both upgrades and downgrades are supported.
tip
You cannot change the types of ECS instances deployed on Local SSD DDHs.
Usage notes
- You can upgrade or downgrade instances deployed on DDHs.
- You need to stop the instances before making any changes. Otherwise, the instance type changes will fail. You can either stop the instances during the operation or manually stop the instances beforehand.
- The instances will start automatically immediately after the instance types are changed. Evaluate the potential impact on your business and proceed with caution.
- Do not perform any other operations on the instances before the instance types are changed. Otherwise, the instance type changes may fail.
- To change the types of multiple instances deployed on DDHs at one time, the instances must meet the following requirements:
- The types of the instances must be the same.
- For instances associated with hosts, the instances must be deployed on the same DDH. For instances not associated with hosts, the instances must reside in the same host cluster.
- You can change the types of up to 20 instances at one time.
Procedure
You can change the type of one or more ECS instances deployed on DDHs at one time in the ECS console. For more information, see Changing instance type.
