Creating ECS instance on DDH
This topic describes how to create an ECS instance of the required type on a DDH to exclusively utilize all physical resources of the DDH.
Prerequisites
Create a DDH first.
Procedure
  1. Log in to the DDH console.
  1. In the top menu bar, select the region where your business is located.
  1. On the DDH list page, click the "Create instance" button in the "Actions" column of the target host.
  1. On the configuration guide page, sequentially complete the basic configuration, network and security configuration, and advanced configuration by referring to the following table.
  •
    Parameter
    Description
    Sample value
    Basic configuration

    DDH
Click the drop-down list to select the DDH to which your ECS instance will be allocated.
    DDH-1
    Associate host
For ECS instances in Economical Mode, some resources will be released after the instances are stopped. This parameter specifies whether the ECS instance will remain fixed on the target host when the ECS instance restarts.
    • If you associate an instance in Economical Mode with a host, when the instance restarts, it will still be deployed on the current host. If the available resources on the current host are insufficient, the restart will fail.
    • If you do not associate an instance in Economical Mode with a DDH, when the instance restarts, it will be preferentially migrated to a host that supports automatic deployment. If the restart fails, it will restart on the original host.
    -
    Billing method
Pay-as-you-go: Postpaid mode. You are charged based on the actual usage duration in hours. For instances deployed on DDHs, you are not charged for their compute resources (vCPU and memory), but charged for resources associated with the instances, such as volumes and EIPs, on a pay-as-you-go basis.
    Pay-as-you-go
    Instance type
Specify the instance type to create. For an oversubscription-enabled DDH, select "Custom instance type". For an oversubscription-disabled DDH, select "Predefined instance type." For more information, refer to Instance types.
    tip
The currently available oversubscription-disabled DDH is ddhg3i, which is in Beta. If you need a trial, please contact your account manager to apply.
    32 vCPUs, 128 GiB
    Quantity
Select the number of instances to purchase based on your needs. The maximum number of instances that can be purchased at one time is determined by the instance type and the remaining resources of the DDH. For example, if a DDH has a total of 448 vCPUs and the specified instance type is 64 vCPUs, a maximum of 7 such 64-vCPU instances can be created.
    1
    Image
You can select an image based on factors, such as the image platform and image version, to provide the operating system and essential application data for the instance. For more image information, refer to Image overview.
    CentOS 7.6

Security enhancement: When you select a Linux or Windows image, the platform provides you with free security enhancement capabilities, which you can choose to enable or disable at your discretion. Security enhancement protects hosts by triggering alerts of system vulnerabilities and unauthorized logins. To manage these alerts, log in to the Security Center console for security protection of your host.
    -
    Storage
Configure the system volume and data volumes based on the storage requirements.
    • A system volume is used to store the operating system and is created with the ECS instance. The system volume and the ECS instance have the same lifecycle.
    • Data volumes are used to store application data. The number of data volumes that can be mounted to a single instance depends on the instance type. For details, refer to Instance types.
    ESSD, 40 GiB
    Network and security

For the instance network and security configuration, refer to Network configuration.

    Advanced configuration

For the instance advanced configuration, refer to Custom configuration.

  1. After you configure the parameters, click "Next" to go to the "Confirm" step and confirm information such as the configuration information, purchase quantity, and fees.
  • Hover over the question mark next to the fee at the bottom of the page to view cost details and discount amounts, including fees for specifications, system volume, data volume, and EIP.
  1. Please refer to the console guidance to review and confirm the Legal.
  1. Click "Buy now". A page with that prompts submission success appears. On this page, you can view whether the ESC instance is created.
  1. Click "Go to the console" to navigate to the Instances page to view the newly created instance.
