Package name format of approved and rejected patch lists
Package name format of approved and rejected patch lists
The name format of packages that you can add to the approved and rejected patches lists depends on the operating system type to be patched. The package management tool used by the operating system determines the specific naming convention.
- The core package management tool for Debian/Ubuntu systems is APT.
tip
APT (Advanced Package Tool) is the package management tool specific to Debian, Ubuntu, and other operating systems. You can use APT to install, update, remove, and perform routine management operations on software packages in the target operating system.
- In the approved and rejected patches lists, you only need to specify the base package name. Do not include architecture or version suffixes. For example, enter ExamplePkg33.x86 and ExamplePkg33.3.2.5 as ExamplePkg33.
- Debian/Ubuntu also supports * (wildcard) to match a group of packages, making it easier to define approval or rejection rules in a batch. For example, entering ExamplePkg* matches all packages that start with ExamplePkg.
