Elastic File Storage (EFS) supports two access methods: FSX and NFS. The recommended scenarios and performance differ among these access methods. This topic helps you choose the most suitable access method for your actual scenario based on the following information.

Type
FSX
NFS
Recommended scenario
  • The performance of a single NFS client cannot meet the business requirements.
  • Business operations depend on directory-level permissions management.
  • The client cache acceleration feature is expected to be used.
  • The performance of a single NFS client can meet the business requirements.
  • The client is not included in the FSX compatibility list..
Operating system
Only Linux is supported. For usage restrictions and operating systems supported by the FSX client, see FSX client overview.
Linux and Windows are supported. For the Windows operating system, only NFSv3 is supported, which is not recommended unless necessary.
