[Product changes] The VKE stops supporting the creation of ECS models of the specification series including g2i, c2i, r2i, and ebmg2i
The Volcano Engine Elastic Compute Service (ECS) is about to stop selling the ECS products of the specification series including General-purpose g2i, Compute-optimized c2i, Memory-optimized r2i, and General-purpose EBM ebmg2i. Therefore, the VKE no longer supports the creation of the nodes corresponding to the ECS of the above specification series.
Discontinuation description
We will stop selling different specifications of ECS in two phases:
- End of sales time: November 1, 2023.
- User scope: Users who did not retain the specification series of instances, including General-purpose g2i, Compute-optimized c2i, Memory-optimized r2i, and General-purpose EBM ebmg2i, in September and October 2023.
- End of sales time: December 30, 2023.
- User scope: All users of ECS.
Discontinuation impact
The impacts of the end of sales of the above specifications of ECS on the VKE side are as follows:
- When users create clusters and node pools, they cannot select the specification series of ECS that have been discontinued.
- For the node pools of the specifications, including General-purpose g2i, Compute-optimized c2i, Memory-optimized r2i, and General-purpose EBM ebmg2i that have been created, the nodes corresponding to the specifications of ECS that have ended sales cannot be scaled.
Recommended operations
- We support modifying the specifications of existing node pools that use these instance types: General-purpose g2i, Compute-optimized c2i, Memory-optimized r2i, and General-purpose EBM ebmg2i. After you modify the specifications, VKE supports scaling nodes based on the new specifications. Your existing nodes with old specifications will not be affected. For detailed operations, refer to Managing node pools.
- We recommend that you later purchase the specification series including General-purpose g3i, Compute-optimized c3i, Memory-optimized r3i, and EBM general-purpose ebmg3i.
