VCI supports VCI pod eviction and protection capabilities. For example, in scenarios such as physical server failures in the VCI data plane or the emptyDir mounted by a VCI pod in the data plane being full, the data plane will passively evict the pod. This feature will affect the resource status of VCI pods during passive eviction.

Change description

The release of this feature will result in the following changes to the VCI pod status:

Before this feature is released, after the data plane evicts a pod, the status of the pod changes to Failed:Evicted.

After this feature is released, the status changes to Deleting:Progressing. The release date of the VCI pod eviction and protection feature varies based on different regions:

China (Beijing): May 13, 2024

China (Guangzhou): May 15, 2024

China (Shanghai): May 15, 2024

Impact description

The change will result in the following impacts:

For pods in the Failed:Evicted state, the data plane will retain the first 100 pods for you to view logs by using the kubectl logs command. For pods in the Deleting:Progressing state, the data plane will immediately delete the pods, and the logs of these pods cannot be viewed.
